Various Kinect and controller Issues

Hi, so I've been having various Kinect issues, and would like some confirmation.

First, it will disconnect randomly and either turn back on or remain off. I've been told this is due to hardware failure.

The other issue, more recently, is that after turning off the console (instant on mode) the Kinect will remain lit up and on. The only fix is a power cycle or unplugging the Kinect. It happens sporadically, but it's concerning.

The Kinect also fails to understand me 9 times out of 10. I've have this console (with Kinect) for 2 years and haven't had issues until recently.

Other than those, the controllers are having some issues as well. I will go to type a message, and it will become unresponsive, forcing me to use SmartGlass to type the message and send it. The Home button then fails to work, at all, unless I power cycle
the console. Any message sent after that, requires the SmartGlass app. This issue has happened to other users on Reddit as well. It happens to me in Warframe only right now, but other users have reported various other games or apps that cause this issue. We
are all also in the Preview Program.

Can anyone confirm or deny hardware failure on the console and Kinect? Do I need to, sadly, cash in my Extended Warranty? Can I use this warranty more than once? Or should I use it for everything at the same time?

Second what Chips said about installing off-network. As to the controller, have you made sure to go into Settings and update your controller? There is a firmware update which fixes several little bugs and quirks with the controller, which happened back before
they started releasing controller updates.

The reason that your installs are taking a long time is because you are installing them through your network. Try going into settings and disconnecting your network while the download is paused, then restart your console by holding down the power button.
When you resume the i stall, it should go a lot faster because you are installing directly from the disc, and not over the Internet.

 

I have the same issues with Kinect.

You are not alone, I have come across many in comment sections of articles and in forums confirming this issue. If this is a hardware issue it should be fully covered by Microsoft. If not, let me tell you as an xbox live preview member, xbox live customer
since 2003, owner of every xbox, owner of a windows phone, windows 10, and a consumer who has had a warranty issue with every single xbox owned I AM STEAMED!!!

There is no way You or I caused this issue and with how many people this is effecting I could imagine they would step up and cover it.

I noticed that the issue started on an update. It went away for months after one update and then came back after another. It has remained an issue even after the past 2 updates as an xbox one preview member.

For the record my Kinect (after a hard reset) will work and function properly for a few minutes or a few days before shutting down. It randomly comes back a few times before retiring completely. Sometimes it does not come back.

I'll be honest, when it comes to customers I have to be in the top 1% of customers for Microsoft. I have supported them every step since the original Xbox launched. It pains me to say as I get older and more successful, I don't have the patience for these
issues any longer. I have been more than patient as you have probably been as well. We deserve better. I've already started building a PC and it genuinely pains me to say it may be time to jump ship. It is starting to look like this is most likely my last
Xbox.

 

I have some of the same issues with the Kinect sensor. It will ignore me giving it a voice command(ie xbox on) but the sensor will respond to my roomie giving it the same command. From another room. Also when streaming to twitch if the sensor is plugged
in the audio of the stream is mangled. If the kinect is unplugged the audio on the stream is un-mangled.
