Variable Refresh Rate unavailable while using Freesync monitor

Hi im using a MSI MAG270CR that supports 1080p, up to 165hz, and freesync. I recenty realized I could change my xbox settings to 120hz and enable VRR. The option to allow VRR is greyed out even though freesync is turned on. I’ve searched the internet and
have been unable to find the answer.

    :)

What the hell is going on here? Please help me!

Are FreeSync set to ON on your monitor?

Also, some monitors only support freesync at its native refresh rate which is why when setting the output of the console to hdmi > 120hz (or 60hz) the option for variable refresh rate then becomes greyed out and unavailable. When switching the hdmi back to auto detect then vrr becomes available again.

If it still doesn't work, I'd recommend you to talk to a Microsoft or Xbox support advocate by a one to one live chat:

XBOX series X support for 1440p 120hz on certain monitors

The monitor has variable refresh rate (freesync), which works with 1440p (on PC) with range 46 - 148 hz ... So is it still possible that the standard is the problem? I would think if monitor has VRR that it can display any refresh rate , especially if I enable it in settings.

    Variable Refresh Rate

Yea my monitor info says it’s displaying 1080p 135khz/120hz in the display information in settings and it looks and feels awesome I was just curious since I have freesync premium turned on in the monitor settings itself if it still is refreshing the rates even though the Xbox specific setting isn’t on cause the DisplayPort to the monitor itself offers up to 1080p 240hz variable refresh rate through the freesync option in the specs of the monitor

VRR Gsync / AMD Freesync Premium

    From how understand it:

    VRR - proprietry HDMI - 2.1 standard

Fressync - AMDs version of variable refresh rate

G-sync - Nvidias version of Variable refresh rate - will not wotk on an Xbox as it has an AMD chip, this is for people who use the C1 as a monitor and have a PC with NVidia GPU.

so on the Xbox just leave both options on and the Xbox will select AMD Freesync.
