Value of Brand New Xbox original - sealed box

Hello. I have an original xbox that has never been opened - seal still intact. I also have a sealed never opened extra game controller. Does this item have any value or should I just sell it for the going price on Craigslist? Thank you for the guidance.

Picked up a new in box X360S for 80$!

That's a great deal, I don't have a 360 new in box but I do have a Mario 25th Anniversary Red Wii Brand New in the Box along with a copy of Mario 25th Anniversary Super Mario All-Stars: Limited Edition Brand New Sealed in the Box. Also I still have my original White Xbox 360 arcade jasper model never got the red rings, and I also have a xbox 360 s 250gb model.

I decided to go back to the store and swap the disc. It has now installed. Really odd though as the original disc was brand new and in a sealed box!

Brand new items like that will always have a greater value than used items.

To be honest, i would keep hold of it a while longer, the original xbox hasn`t yet got to that "collectors item" status.

 

As theowenkiller has said, hold on to it for a bit longer.

Though, I doubt it will ever reach that stage where people are paying tens of thousands for it, maybe in like 50 years, haha.

 

Feel free to hold onto it but I can assure you you that you will never be able to sell it for anymore than what it was priced at when it was originally released. The product industry is not at all like it use to be. Every product now is mass-marketed. Take
baseball cards for example. The really old ones are very collectible and can be worth a lot of money due to their rarity. But buying them now is a terrible investment because they make so many and any product's market is polluted with that specific item.

Being a Business major at the University of Michigan I also learned that alost any sort of entertainment or media product will never raise in price. They're increasingly being devalued due to products in that market, like gaming consoles, being consistently
updated. Most people that would buy an old system from several generations ago usually only buy it for nostalgia purposes.

 

^^ I think the point he's getting at is the fact that its sealed. I have some early 1980's unopened baseball card boxes.... if I open these up and try to sell the cards, they're practically worthless, but leaving the boxes sealed/unopened, they're worth
hundreds of dollars.

As for how much a sealed OG Xbox is... well... I don't know if there's much of a market for it? You could always do a quick search on eBay to see if you find anything. That's a good way to judge the market.

 

To a collector it will be worth about twice what it sold for back in the day. So $149.99 x 2. I would guess.

I have 4 of em, all opened. What I would look for if I were buying one still in the box would be the build date. Which is visible through an opening towards the bottom side of the box.

For me that build date would be 2005 as opposed to 2001-2. For those consoles had Optical problems, as well as loose solder points on the power boards which could cause the unit to spark itself to death.

That is a great value you have. In my opinion I would be willing to pay about $350 US Dollars for that. It would start to get uncomfortable around $390.00 in my opinion. I know others would be comfortable giving or taking $100 dollars.

 

Never gonna buy a xbox again I cant even play for 30 min without being auto kicked off by servers. i have highspeed internet i shouldnt be disconnecting im paying monthly for this -.-

 

talk about taking over the thread, if you getting disconnected all the time, it is either your provider or your in house equipment, try a clean hard reboot to see if that helps, run a test see if you can pinpoint the issue instead of blaming microsoft instantly.
