  2. My only comments is to ask are, since you seem to have gone through so many controllers and state you experience drift on each one; (1) how are the controllers stored? - While they are stored and in an off state, is anything pressing up against the stick
that is experiencing the drift? (2) No where is it metioned if the controllers are up-to-date. So, have you verified that the firmware is up-to-date on the contollers?

My 1st Xbox 360 console I got in late 2010 (slim console) a few months ago, my controller to that started drifting, the left stick only. But it's still playable. With my Day 1 Edition console with Kinect (I went to the midnight launch for Xbox 1 in NZ),
that controller is still working fine. But I still play heaps more on Xbox 360 so it hasn't had a lot of a workout even though I have about 20 Xbox 1 games.

As for quality build, at the end of the day, ITS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC, with some gadgets inside. Microsoft does carry a warranty on controllers, but in my opinion, warranties for controllers should be 12 months minimum, since many electronic devices come
with at least a 12 month warranty. Especially for that overpriced piece of plastic Elite Controller. It also is down to what country you live in. In New Zealand and Australia, we have strong consumer protection laws. Products sold in NZ/Australia are legally
required to be durable and reasonable and last a reasonable amount of time. And the 1 or 3 months warranty Microsoft gives for controllers is not good enough. And Microsoft does have offices and authorized retailers over here so they fall under our jurisdiction
    too.

I brought a turtle beach 500x new early this year. It comes with a 12 month warranty. 2 months ago, it developed a crack where the left side of the headband was attaching it to the left ear ***. I got it from an online NZ retailer, I return it to them, they
paid for express shipping, and they shipped me same day a brand new headset and paid for shipping, at no charge. Under NZ law and probably Australia maybe, retailers are obligated to resolve faulty issues from customers. And the item was clearly not durable.
I read this review from a US customer he had to fill in a form to turtle beach wait for the process and they finally gave him a new headset. Even on amazon they've had these issues with the headset. But yes, I really think Australia and NZ have better rights
than the US, since we don't have to deal with the manufacturer, just the retailer and they quickly resolve it for you. And under NZ law, if a product falls faulty, if the customer chooses to have it repaired, the manufacturer must repair it 'within a reasonable
time', not take like 20 working days or a month or so. But many consumers in NZ just go for refund or replacement which is good.

The first year of having my Xbox 360, I contacted the retail store as the basic headset which came with my console didn't work. And this was 9 months into my 12 month warranty. The retailer said Microsoft only provides so long a period for accessories like
the basic headset or controller. But we can exchange it for another one for you. Why? Because it is a requirement under the Consumer guarantee act that products last a reasonable amount of time. And the little warranty that Microsoft gives doesn't quite fulfill
that criteria. Microsoft I think do a good job with the stuff they provide, but nothing they engineer, is designed to be perfect.

There is a video on their official Xbox YouTube site titled 'Behind the Scenes at Xbox'.
They showed how they engineered the Xbox 1 controller 'up to 2,000,000 presses with a single controller'. This should mean that controllers should really come with
a 12 month warranty instead of a warranty period of much less. Why spend millions of dollars on a controller and give a consumer a very short manufacturers warranty of not even a year.

Then the manager is telling you to commit fraud. Just because he doesn't care doesn't mean that it's not still illegal. That just makes the manager an accessory.

Besides that, you were suggesting another member do the same thing, so you're just assuming the manager of whatever store he goes to is going to be fine with someone commiting fraud as well. There are better, legal, and honest ways to deal with the situation.

Come on now, just use a bit of common sense here. The warranty is not for *any* controller, it's for the specific one you are purchasing at that time. Read the actual warranty you purchased and I will guarantee it says it's only for that specific controller.

Yea insurance really doesn't work like that, you can't insure an already broken product against breakage, insurance companies would go out of business sharpish...

The only controller i've had stick drift on was a limited ed blue camo. It was fixed by updating the pad. Still going strong today.

No drifting here. Then again, the sticks are so loose I'm pretty sure there's not enough strenght for them to get stuck in an off position. Seriously, those things are way too loooooooose.

This forum is also full of threads discussing pads damaged by 'drift', so it's clearly a know problem (and if it's not know to MS then they really should be aware). The fact that MS only offer a very short warranty on pads suggests that they are aware, and
possible there is an inherent fault that needs addressing. I'm not sure what the solution is, I myself am on my 3rd pad in approx 18 months, I know this probably doesn't help you but at least you know you're not alone.
