Utterly Furious!

I am on my second XBOX One. I bought one about 18 months ago. I went through FOUR controllers due to analogue stick drift. Twice on the right stick twice on the left. The left one is worse cause you can't aim but the right stick can screw that up too!.

So I was on my 3rd controller and it got drift, 3rd time! I phoned XBOX Support they told me I had to send it to Germany, I refused and told them I may as well just buy a new one cause of the time it would take I would lose my subscription costs to Netflix,
Now TV, EA Access etc. So I thought screw it I will see what the website says and if there could be a solution by now, there wasn't and as far as I can tell there still isn't (calibration setting MUCH!?). A window popped up and an Operator asked if they could
help (the name suggests it was a female even though it's an operator name not a real name). Anyway I explained I was sick to the back teeth of this god awful PERSISTENT problem and after over an hour she arranged a replacement without me having to send in
the faulty one to Germany, great Oh and they extended my warranty by 3 days cause well ran out 3 days previously.

I sold that strandard 500GB XBOX with the new controller (I was tempted to put the faulty one in there but dishonesty is not my way). I sold the XBOX because I planned on buying a new one since they were on promotion, a promotion I missed by 2 days! £229
at Salisbury's and Argos Standard XBOX both went up to £279 by the time I had the money.

So I find Tesco had a 1TB Forza 6 Limited Edition for £269 which I bought on the 13th of may THIS YEAR! Guess what my limited edition controller is drifting up on the left stick! Always up it drifts, never down! This makes the FIFTH controller I have had drift
on. And this new one in the space of what 6 weeks develops an upward left stick drift? Outraged I phoned and explained, being how I just bought a second XBOX and being it's barely 6 weeks old I thought they will send me a new controller standard of Forza I
cared not WITHOUT having to send it to Gemrany for 4 FING weeks only to get a refurbished probably!

They told me no, they can't do it. I said yes you can, you did it before. They said that was a goodwill gesture, I said that may be but this is an EXCEPTIONAL circumstance. I have dropped nearly £800 on two XBOX's not to mention the controller I bought myself
and all the *** games and they can't send me a 2 dollar controller? Oh I know they cost £45 but to make them? $5 $10 dollars at MOST!

I asked the guy if he had heard this a lot, he told me it was the first time he had heard of it! THEY HAVE IT ON THE FAQ! I know DOZENS of people who have had to buy new controllers every other month cause of this! Google and Youtube is plastered with "fixes"
and forums are filled with it!

I have a 9 year old 360 controller and it works just fine, no drift no problems in any way!

Good post bemaniac360. The update added a lot of playability to an already enjoyable title. I really like being able to see who beat my Rival round and then go right into a match with that player. The additional payouts are fun, I collected over 30k yesterday
by beating 3 Rivals on an Elite setting. Go buy this game for $15 US.

Are you sure Frank gets a boost to his accuracy? Because on the bottom right mine says "+33 strike" or something like that.

 

This forum is also full of threads discussing pads damaged by 'drift', so it's clearly a know problem (and if it's not know to MS then they really should be aware). The fact that MS only offer a very short warranty on pads suggests that they are aware, and
possible there is an inherent fault that needs addressing. I'm not sure what the solution is, I myself am on my 3rd pad in approx 18 months, I know this probably doesn't help you but at least you know you're not alone.

DAY 23 Xbox One controllers still work fine.

In fact, I've
NEVER had a controller go bad for any console I've owned so... obviously I'm not that furious.

 

Controller drift seems to be this gen's RROD for Xbox.

 

I have the same 2 controllers since 11/29/13 and both still work great. Maybe because I switch my game time between the Xbox One and PS4. But I have replaced 1 of my PS4 controllers in the same time frame so it does happen to people .

 

I'm sorry to hear you had such a hard time.

I applaud you for your honesty in not stuffing the faulty controller in when you sold the old one.

You bought from Tesco this year?

Go to store for replacement or refund.

Yes I am now in contact with Tesco but this may mean a complete switch of the entire console which while I wouldn't say no to a brand new one over an almost brand new one will still be annoying.

I will have to re-download every game I have which I just did not 6 weeks ago when I got the *** thing.

What *** me off the most is that I assumed that being that this is a limited edition and being that the controller ( www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/accessories/controllers/forza-6-wireless-controller) uses some unique parts, I assumed those parts would be superior,
clearly it purely cosmetic.

I would be happy to send them this controller AFTER I receive a replacement. I sent a previous controller to Germany and I had nothing to control my xbox with except the extremely limited control of this Keyboard, I couldn't enter my passkey because it using
the D Pad.

I wonder how the XBOX Elite Controller owners are faring regarding any drift.

 

^ you can use smartglass on your phone or the windows xbox smartglass app if you need to control anything i know its not the best solution but it does work.

 

I think I have read about the controller issue on here a few times. Not sure how widespread it is.

For myself no issues luckily. We actually have 4 Xbox One consoles currently. 2 are a few years old and the original controllers work fine with daily use. Then we have some newer consoles that are about a 1.5 years old or so. I also have 2 controllers
for my PC and on of my sons PC but they get used less. Seems that nobody I know has this issue luckily. I would have thought my second oldest son would have this issue, he is hard on controllers, but unlike other controllers this has lasted a few years which
is a plus.

The 360 controllers are the exact opposite for us. I never had issues but that son of mine that is hard on controllers? Yeah. I had to replace the sticks inside those a few times. And buy new ones. Seemed he would wear them out because he would push
so hard to click during gameplay.

 

No drifting here. Then again, the sticks are so loose I'm pretty sure there's not enough strenght for them to get stuck in an off position. Seriously, those things are way too loooooooose.

 

i have 2 day one controllers that are battered by me and the kids, i have 1 from early last year and an elite controller, no drift and flawless, my friends don't have issues either, are you using the r3 button alot and maybe pressing to hard as i have never
had a controller break or go faulty since the 80's.

 

The only controller i've had stick drift on was a limited ed blue camo. It was fixed by updating the pad. Still going strong today.

 

ive had 2 controllers drift...if you go into game and buy a controller and assessory warentee its £5 you can then go in with your broken controller and use that to get another new controller, buy the warentee again and so on.

I have kids so the controllers get broke and battered alot, the two new ones i have are fine so far (its been a couple months)
