Using XCM VBox2 to computer, cannot get good resolution

NOTE: Before anyone recommends if I have a friend's TV that I can access, the answer is NO! I am in a foreign country and know virtually no one. It should be presumed that what suffices for a TV is working properly.

WARNING: Any text that I reference as being displayed for the Xbox is my best guess at what it is saying - yes, the graininess is THAT BAD.

OK, here's my situation. I got my Xbox 360 about 5 years ago, along with an XCM Vbox2 system so that has a USB interface & software so that I can play the Xbox. I have had virtually no problems up until right now.

So the situation now is that is that video that is displayed by the Vbox2 is VERY grainy, so much so that it is virtually impossible to read any text in the Settings mode. However FWIW, I was able to start up the Rock Band game, but there was no audio.
The output cable is set to TV, and when I set it to HDTV, I get complete gibberish on my Xbox, so that proves that somehow that switch toggles that setting.

NOTE: For now on, that output cable is set to TV.

When I go into the Settings - Display, with the top entry - which seems to say HDTV Settings (remember, I cannot tell what it exactly says) - selected, on the right side of the window, it seems to say:

TV

Normal

Component (30i)

I cannot make out any of the other text. The 30 value sounds about how grainy the resolution is (i.e., the whole Xbox window is like 30 pixels tall.

I have tried doing a a console reset as a few folks on Youtube have described, but nothing has fixed this problem.

i have heard than you can use a xcm f1 converter to use your g27 with xbox 360 .i am in your situation and i would like to know more about the xcm .

Streaming computer display, Xbox resolution is only 640*480.4K modulation 1080P TV resolution, computer monitor resolution is normal, if the XBOX restart, the computer automatically streamed to restore the default 640*480 resolution, how to solve this problem!

 

Reset your console's display settings and make sure your cable isn't damaged. Anything out side of that would be a problem with your device, possibly drivers, and not the Xbox 360.

 

As this is an issue with an unlicensed 3rd party hardware device, you will have to take up any issues you are having with the manufacturer of that device. Sorry.

 

Irixion, how do I reset the console display? And how would a bad cable make the signal be grainy? A bad cable would cause other issues, not this.

HomegrownSilky, I don't understand what you mean by "unlicensed". I have the license for the Vbox2. And in any case, that is not the problem; the problem is the signal coming from the Xbox.

 

OK, I talked with Xbox customer support, and it seems that the signal is sent like a GIF, in that it is grainy at first, and then refined, so that if the bandwidth is low, there will only be the grainy picture.

 

Unlicensed by Microsoft. Microsoft support could help you with officially licensed products. Vbox does not go to Microsoft and work together to produce an officially licensed product. They just made something on their own. That is what is meant by unlicensed.
Microsoft has nothing to do with this and has no way of helping. Have you reached out to the manufacturer of the Vbox? They should be able to offer you help.
