Using Xbox stereo adapter with wireless headset

Hi, can anyone tell me if it's possible to buy the stereo headset adapter to plug into my controller and use the buttons to mute my wireless headset? I'd rather use buttons on the controller than on the headset.

If the answer is yes, this is a bit crazy, but since I already have the basic one-ear wired headset, could I just cut the cable and use this instead of buying the stereo headset adapter (which is like 40$ CAD)? It has a mute button which is really the
one thing I want. Basically I'd like to know if I can cut the headset part and just keep the connector part.

Thanks for any answers or indications!

    :)

my control's headphones input is failing

The Xbox One does not support USB headset, the console only supports wired connection to the controller via the 3.5 mm jack or with the Xbox One headset adapter. which connects to the bottom of the controller, or you can use a wireless headset which connects
straight to the Xbox One wireless connection. Your best bet would be to purchase the Xbox One headset adapter.

    STEREO HEADSET ADAPTER

    Hello Sugar2Kocaine,

When you say "adapter", are you referring to the "Xbox One Stereo Headset Adapter" ? If so, we have two of them and both work well, even after the
new update. They came with our "Xbox One Stereo Headset", and I think they are the best headsets you can get for the money. With that said, the first thing I
would do is double check >All settings >Settings > Display & sound >Volume >Chat mixer and
Party chat output Headset . Next, are you using the newer "Xbox Wireless Controller" with the built-in 3.5mm stereo headset jack?
Then, remove the adapter and just try plugging your headset directly into the controller to see if you can hear the audio and chat. If that doesn't work, as a test, may I suggest using the USB cable and connect the controller to your Xbox. If you still cannot
hear anything then I recommend following up with "Update your Xbox One Controller" .

Recommendation needed for Xbox One X headphones

I would recommend the official Xbox brand stereo headset as it claims to be compatible with all xbox one wireless controllers:

It probably doesn't need the stereo headset adapter - but if you're going to buy this headset, better just buy the stereo headset adapter to get your other headsets, that you already own, to work properly
