    Using Xbox Series X with Xbox One S cables


    My friend lent me his Series X, but none of the cables just because the power cable, Hdmi, and controllers needed are all essentially the same as the Xbox One S, which I already own. Easier to transport if he just gives me the box.

    When I got home and plugged it in where my Xbox One S was, I couldn't get it to output video (tv flickers for a second so it detects something's turned on, but then goes to the "no signal" screen). From my google searching, it seems like even though I'm only using HDMI 2.0, it should work. I just won't be able to play at 4k or 120hz. Fine by me.

    I've tried multiple HDMI cables and multiple TVs to ensure they work. It's just when I plug in the Series X that video output turns on. I also used the Series X at my friend's house (with the included cables) less than 24 hours ago and transported it very delicately.

    All I can think is that the power cable I'm using may be a problem. Is there a difference between the cable used on the Series X vs Xbox One X? It fits in both ports no problem, but it's all I can think of. The Series X powers on and makes the startup sound. My controller connects. Any more ideas?

    The Xbox One S & X use the same power cable as the Xbox Series X|S, so yes, you should be able to. Only the original Xbox One uses a different cable.

    if its an xbox one s, one x, series s or series x than any figure 8 cable will be fine, just not a cheap one from wish.

    Which Xbox do you have, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X or Xbox Series X or S? Not all of them are multi-voltage. The Xbox 360 and Xbox One will need either a power converter or a power supply for your region. As for the Xbox One S, Xbox One X and Series X or S, they are multi-voltage, and should work fine with the correct power cable.

    No such thing as an Xbox One Series X. The Xbox One family of consoles has an S and an X but are still just Xbox Ones. You need the Series family of consoles. The Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X. These are different from Xbox One S or Xbox One X.

    The "One" and "Series" are the console types.
