  1. Using XBox on Windows deletes your saved games -- on XBox AND Windows

I played a game on my XBox Series S. Then learned I could also play it through the Xbox app in Windows 10. I opened the game there and was surprised to find my progress from the Xbox was already there. I played some there (on Windows). Later I went to my Xbox and all my progress is gone. I went to my PC and backed up all the game files I could find, but I don't believe any of them are saved games. I opened the game on my PC and my progress is gone there too. Obviously I regret ever playing the game and wish Microsoft did not add a "feature" like this (play on PC) that will ruin a game (by deleting all your progress when you use it).

Does Microsoft know they do this? Is it somehow the game developer's fault?

Is there any chance there is actually a save game file somewhere that can be restored, or since it is all handled by Microsoft cloud magic that means it's just totally gone?

    :)

Using XBox on Windows deletes your saved games -- on XBox AND Windows

After a little more research, I believe I do have a copy of the saved game files ("wgs" folder). But I can't get them to load -- instead when I open the game on PC a screen flashes "Synching..." (too fast for me to see the whole message) and the files get replaced with the empty game with no progress. I was hoping to find a way to convince the XBox on Windows app that these are newer than the empty cloud save. Or maybe these are files for an empty save too? If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it. Thanks

    profile is corrupted

please recover it. then it should be okay :) first delete your old profile. you may want to back up your game saves first. copy those to a flash drive or to cloud...

    To delete:

Go to Settings, and then select System.

    Select Storage.

    Select All Devices.

    Select Gamer Profiles.

Select the gamertag that you want to delete.

    Select Delete.

    Select one of the following:

Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.

Select Delete Profile and Items to delete the profile and the associated saved games and achievements.

    To recover:

Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).

    Select Download Profile.

Note Not seeing Download Profile? Press X to sign out of your profile.

Enter the Windows Live ID associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag. If you don’t know your Windows Live ID or password, see Manage your Windows Live ID.

Now, enter your Windows Live ID password.

Note If your account is an Xbox LIVE child account, the parent’s Windows Live ID information is required to download the profile.

Select the storage device for your profile (for example, Hard Drive).

Your profile will begin downloading. Once your profile is downloaded, you can choose whether or not you want to require your Windows Live ID password to sign into your profile.

my advice is "Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements."

Xbox game pass PC downloads to drives.

have you reinstalled windows lately, with it coming up stating delete other apps is that it has found apps on there from a previous installation, these apps are not usable as windows will not use the already created folders on that drive, it will then delete
the apps only not the drive itself then you can save to that drive.

this is a kind of drm, if you install games and apps from the windows store to a drive and then windows changes via re install then they become useless and need to be removed to use that drive as windows storage again.

Deleting Cloud Game Saves on Windows

Hello again, I believe that in the 360 will not work, xCloud games are a unique generation One service available with games only from the catalog, so if you try the procedure do on an Xbox One.
