using xbox live with a 2nd console

Hello everyone, I have searched and can't seem to figure this out.

I have XBox gamepass and XBox Live Gold subscription with my account and have my son set up under my family. However, if I am using our home XBox and he gets on his XBox to play Fortnite it won't let him unless I sign out. How can I set it up so that he
can play online games while I am also online? The support/help on Microsoft websites seems to indicate I can share my membership with him, but is there no way for more than one device to be online?

You would set your home to your sons xbox and just login like normal on yours

My XBox is set as the home Xbox for both of us. How would changing his Console to the home XBox for my profile fix it? Wouldn't that still have the issue of only one being able to be online at any given time?

Or are you saying his profile needs to have the other XBox as his home XBox while my profile keeps the other as my Home XBox?

Your profile needs to be set as his console’s home Xbox

You both need to have your own accounts and make his a child account so you can authorize things for him.

As people have already stated designate the console he uses as your home console and he will get all your benefits. The only downside is you cannot play games offline on your console if you are not connected to Xbox live; that's all.
