Using wired headset plugged into Xbox one s wireless controller with laptop HELP!

Just got a new headset with mic to use with the XBOX one s wireless controller. Works fine when using on the xbox console to play Fortnite, but not the Laptop. The headset is plugged into the controller and the controller is bluetoothed to Windows 10
laptop. There must be some sort of settings I need to change, I just can't figure it out! Is this configuration even possible? Thanks for any help!

Have you tried using another controller while you are using the wireless headset without the chatpad? The wireless headset should only skip a controller port when a wired headset is plugged in. I believe that there is something wrong with your controller,
as it seems to be detecting a wired headset when there is not one plugged in. You may want to try using compressed air on the headset port of the controller and see if maybe that might help.

Thank you so much! This works now. However, the second headset (my son is using) worked fine yesterday, but now he can only hear sound, but his mic doesn't seem to be working. He has it plugged into his xbox one s wireless controller that he is using (wirelessly)
with the xbox console. Worked fine yesterday. Tried disconnecting/reconnecting the controller as well as restarting console.

the controller does not support audio over bluetooth, you have to connect the controller to the laptop with a usb cable for it to work.

I prefer wireless controller and wired headset, but I do not recommend using a wired controller and a wired headset. Some headsets will make a weird buzzing noise when plugged into a wired controller. And also, same goes for plugging your wireless controller
into your console to charge a battery pack.

As of right now you cant use wireless headsets on Xbox. You can only use a wireless controller but the headset as to be wired. i wish you could because I would buy one in a heartbeat. Maybe next gen would offer the option to use wireless headset>>>I have

If the headset comes with a wired you need to plug that into your controller. If it doesnt and is just wireless>>>and you recently brought it, you need to return it for a wired headset. Sorry about that.

You better tell that to my Turtle beach Elite 800x and Astro A50 Gen 3 headsets

The only way your able to use those headsets on Xbox is connected it to your controller using a wired. You can't use is wirelessly. Xbox doesnt support wireless headset without a wired. It kinda defeat the purpose of a wireless headset.
