    Using Way too much HD space


    I have a first gen xbox one and have been noticing that my HD space is a precious resource. I buy all of my games on disc, with the exception of TitanFall which was downloaded. My only other games have been Wolfenstein, Assassins Creed IV, COD, Ryse, BF4
    and shadow of mordor and my HD is 90+% full so I can't get any more games.

    I've noticed that when I start up a game on disc for the first time, it tries installing the game and then let's me play. Is there a way to stop this and still play the game? I can't imagine owning a console that only lets me own/play 6-7 games.

    Wrong. They're too short which doesn't leave too much space for replayability but saying that Doritos Crash Course, Dash of Destruction, Harms Way, Hexic HD or whatever aren't fun, that's just complete bs. Know what you're talking about, USR.

    Well I figured out what the issue was. It was not actually updating games it was downloading the entire game. My neighbor had his profile on my console for some time now but only got his X1 today. He got the AC unity bundle along with a few other games and
    I assume because his profile is on my console it automatically downloaded them to mine as well.

    Hey BadgerDoc88,

    Storage sure is a precious resource, but don't worry, it doesn't have to be!

    With the Xbox One, you can purchase an external USB hard-drive and plug it in to a USB port on your console and you'll be able to use it. For example, a 2TB drive.

    Unfortunately, you do have to install disk-based games, there's no-way to disable that I'm afraid.

    Never thought I would need an external HD for a console lol

    So just pick up a decent sized external HD, keep it plugged into the side USB port, and let the xbox chug along like usual?

    Not sure which country you're in, but for the UK, GAME do some hard-drives for it:

    www.game.co.uk/.../memory

    2TB is around £90, and should last you a good while.
