    Using uhd discs on Xbox one s


    if like me you've had issues playing 4k discs on your Xbox one s

    Mine would play with no sound only picture

    Unfortunately the machine doesn't detect the difference between the 4k disc & a blue ray!

    You have to go into the settings & manually select which picture setting to use

    Go into settings & change the display on tv from 1080p to 4k to watch that format

    When you want to watch a regular blue ray again you'll have to go back into settings again & switch it back to 1080p otherwise your blue ray will play picture only & again no sound

    Bit of a pain but trust me this works

    Xbox One discs are Dual Layer BD-ROM discs 50 GB, which is pretty much standard now. In addition, the One S and the One X can also read UHD Blu-ray feature film discs. Neither the One S or One X can read BDXL discs, I don't know enough about the hardware
    to say for sure if this is due to a hardware or software issue. Note that despite the similar storage capabilities, UHD Movie Blu-ray discs are factory pressed, while BDXL is a writable format largely for burning discs with a PC.

    Despite the One S and the One X's ability to read UHD discs, they will not be used for Game media.

    Hdr washed out colors and dimmer during hdr content

    I used to watch 4k UHD discs on my One S and they looked great. For some reason recently they look washed out on my S and X. What happened?

    Xbox One S fails playing Ultra HD Blu-ray

    Sure, it is random but I'd say it's safe to conclude that when trying same discs on another UHD player with the same setup and the discs work, that the problem is with the Xbox One S/Blu-Ray application.

    Sorry to hear about the issues playing the movie. You mentioned that others were working, but not this one. To clarify, is this a 4K UHD disc that you're using on an Xbox One S console? Is this an official studio release or perhaps a BD-R disc you made yourself.
