Using the the TV app without a cable Box

I live in the US and I only have basic cable. Is there any device I can use to be able to use the TV app without going to the cable company and paying for a cable box? Also, does the usb digital tuner by xbox only works outside the US?

X Box One stopped powering TV on and off

That link is for trouble with the OneGuide app. I am not trying to use the OneGuide app. I am trying to use the seemingly undocumented feature that has long allowed my X Box to turn on the TV without using the connect or any other Infrared emitter. Anyway,
I did a hard reset with the HDMI cable unplugged, then plugged in the HDMI cable after powering on the X Box, and that did the trick; my X Box turns the TV on and off again *without* using the connect or any other IR device

 

Picture quality degredation, crushed blacks etc. with HDMI input

I've the same problem, dark scene have lots of artifacts.

Actually I'm using the xbox hdmi cable between TV (Samsung F7000) and SkyHD Set-box.

I've tried a differente cable end I've no picture in TV App.

It's very strange because I'm using a hdmi cable 1.3 and there no difference between hdmi cables (it's a standard!)

It's very frustrating, the only solution is to connect the set-box directly to TV :-(

Yes, you have a few options.

1) Any device with HDMI-out can be plugged into the HDMI-in port of the Xbox One.

2) It's not an officially supported scenario, but many users have had good luck with OTA STBs, like one from HomeWorx, that gets channels from an antenna.

3) The USB Tuner currently only works with DVB signals, which are primarily found in Europe. (North America uses ATSC).

 

Thanks, do you have any suggestions of what device to use other than homeworx. I tried it already and I didn't pick up any channels, not even the ones I pay for.

 

Sorry, I don't. I would go to Amazon and look for "over the air set top box." You'll want one of the ATSC options. Generally Amazon reviews are trustworthy.

Also, if the Homeworx box can't get any channels, *usually* it's due to the antenna.
