Using the same email address on more than one device

My sons Xbox 1 was set up by his dad, using his dads email address and microsoft account. His dad keeps changing the password for his microsoft account and wont tell my son what it is. We are trying to use my email address instead and use my microsoft
account but the message we get is that that address is already in use. Any help please?

An email address can only be tied to one Microsoft account. So you will have to create your son his own email account and use that email for his account moving forward.

When you said the message you get with your email address says "already in use" are you trying to create a new account? If so, you already have an existing account with that email address.

Sign into the console with that account you know the password to as seen here:

If you don't know the password please see this page to help you reset it (for your email account):

And the problem should be solved.

If you purchased Fable via Steam, you would need to contact their support with regards to your serial being invalid. As for your email and account issue, that seems a little more confusing. We need some more information.

Do you have more than one Microsoft account? It is very possible you could have signed up for a Microsoft accout with a Gmail email address, having a Microsoft Hotmail or LIVE email is not manditory. My account email address is not a Microsoft one. Also
the email address you use for Steam does not need to be the same one you use for GFWL.
