Using Redeemed Gift Card Funds within Family

Hi, I have redeemed an xbox gift card for my son to use but although I can see the £25 redeemed, I can't seem to let my son use it even though he is part of my family. Can you help please?

I redeemed a gift card onto my account and it was verified by xbox, yet I can't seem to find the funds anywhere. I have tried redeeming it again but it says it has already been used.

Any ideas??

If you look on account.microsoft.com do you see the added funds in the bottom left?

 

The funds would have needed to be redeemed on your son's account in order for him to be able to use them. You can try contacting support to see if they can remove the funds so they can be added to the proper account. Contact Us | Xbox Support
Otherwise, you could make a purchase of a game on your account and share it to his account via the Home setting.

Paul from Xbox Forums Team here to help with the issue, it looks like you're trying to use the Microsoft currency to purchase something for your son. If the money was redeemed on your account you would have to use the funds as to gift the item to your son.

Thanks for your reply. So, just to clarify my son is wanting to use this for Fortnite V-Bucks, and not a game, so would this work for these add-on purchases too?

Unfortunately, V-Bucks aren't available to be bought as a gift.

There are other items available to be bought as a gift just certain in-game content can't be gifted.
