    Using pre-existing game files for Xbox app (insider)


    Hi,

    So, with the new Xbox insider update allowing you to explore your game files freely without restrictions or letting you to back your game files up, i was wondering if there's a way to use pre-existing game files (like DOOM ETERNAL on steam) in Xbox app just by copying them in the right directory.

    No, the files are still unique to the Microsoft Store. There is no way to use them on Steam or vice versa.

    The robotic sound is akin to an issue that pops up every now and then on Insider builds. If you have a pre owned console, it may well be registered for Xbox Insider Preview. You can remove it using the Xbox Insider Hub app.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

    Your save file which includes progress and in game items on Steam is completely unique and separate from any pre-existing save file that’s associated with your Xbox Live gamertag, due to technical limitations. This means, that your progress from Xbox App or Microsoft Store can’t be use on Steam.

    Yes, that’s normal

    If you install your games from the Xbox app, sign in with your account and hit “install” for a game
    If you use a different platform you may need to redownload their app (steam, epic, etc) and once downloaded verify the existing game files

    Yes - as per my post. I use the media tool to create an iso file and then did a reinstall, keeping my files.

    Doing that got everything working again for a few hours.

    Unfortunately, most of the problems then recurred (unable to install or uninstall games from the xbox app, cannot cancel existing queued installs, cannot run most games on the xbox app).
