    Using optical cable/ reciever

    Hello,

Any help would be great. I was just curious as I have purchased an optical cable to put in the Xbox to my stereo unit as it dose not have hdmi but I can't get any sound at all. Is there any settings I have to change? Saying this, my stereo unit is about
7 years old so not sure if it can convert the sound lol.

Or would it be better to get RCA AV to hdmi converter?

    Many thanks!

    Sam

    :)

  2. 5.1 Surround from my New Slim 360?

Xbox 360 HDMI to TV, Digital Optical cable to AV Reciever should work fine. Personally I have the Digital Optical cable running from the TV to the AV Reciever which you can try if you experience any lag in sound. I would have thought the optical cable would
go to an optical port though, not a phono port. You don't need to use HDMI if you have component cable. You can just use component and digital optical. You wont really notice any difference in image though it doesn't hurt to try both.

How do I connect my turtle beach PX5 to my TV to get audio into the headphones?

    Have you tried this?

Optical cable from reciever to xbox.

Or if possible optical from TV to Reciever if this isnt possible i think the px5s have analouge inputs, Try that straight into your tv, (rca cable)

The second optical port on the reciever is a pass through input. (like the hdmi in and out on a xbox one)

And here is the manual pal:

    Using optical cable/ reciever

For me I used an optical cable for a headset amp thing. But as for setting it up...when I went into sound options whenever I would select something that was wrong it wouldnt let me do it. So maybe change them until it works? Theres only like 3 and I recall
it being fairly easy to figure out....I think you might have to select Bitstream out? or hdmi off....fool around with that and im sure if its gonna work at all for you. It shouldnt be too hard to do....hopefully someone knows more.

Yeah iv tried fiddling with the settings with no luck. Even tried the stereo system just with my TV but had the same outcome. Maybe it's a faulty port, thanks for the reply though.

    Optical Cables

the optical cable is to carry Dolby Surround to a compatible reciever. I personally get mine add-on A/V cables from ebay for a few bucks a piece. The optical cable signal is light, not an electric signal, so you dont need some overpriced cable to make it
    sound great.
