Using More Than One Billing Account Congruently for Digital Purchases on XBOX Live

There was a time when I could use my Microsoft Account to pay for a digital purchase on XBOX Live and my credit card to cover any additional charge if the Microsoft Account did
not have enough funds. This no longer seems to be the case. Am I doing something wrong or has this ability actually removed?

    :)

How to check your Xbox LIVE or Zune billing and purchase history

It is possible to have a look at the history of all purchases made on your Xbox LIVE account.

View charges on your Xbox LIVE account

    1) Sign into the Microsoft Billing website using your Windows Live ID. (This is the email address and password associated with your Xbox LIVE account or Zune account).

    2) Go to Your Payment Methods and choose the payment method you want to go through its history (for example, credit card).

Note: Zune purchases are found under Your Services.

    3) You will see a list of charges for the current month (for example, membership renewals and Microsoft Points). If you want to look at the charges from another month, you can change the Statement Period accordingly.

If charges are not showing up, confirm that you used the right email and password associated with your Xbox LIVE account to sign into the Microsoft Billing website.

Look at your Xbox LIVE purchase history:

There are two ways you can use to see the history of purchases you have made using your Xbox LIVE account:

    • Sign in using your Windows LIVE ID and go to Purchase History.
    • Use your console to view your Xbox LIVE purchase history
    Steps for using the console:

    1) Use your Xbox LIVE gamertag to sign in.

    2) Under Settings, select Account.

    3) Go to Download History. You will see a list of items you have downloaded.

Note: If you are on a 2 year Xbox LIVE Gold Contract, you will get all the relevant information under your billing history and purchase history. You will be charged a monthly subscription fee of $14.99 during the 2 year period.

Look at your Zune purchase history in the Zune software:

    1) Start the Zune software and Sign In using your Windows LIVE ID in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

    2) Under Settings, choose Account.

    3) Select Purchase History. You will a list of your purchases by category.

Print a list of charges to your account:

    1) Sign into the Microsoft Billing website using your Windows Live ID.

    2) Go to Your payment methods and choose the type of payment method you want (for example, credit card). You will see charges for the current month.

    3) Click on Show print view. A new window will open with the month's transactions.

    4) Click Print on your browser.

Credit card failed when you tried to purchase an item or add another credit card

Common Xbox LIVE Credit Card Error Codes:

You will see one of the following error codes whenever your payment option can't be authorized through your bank, or Xbox LIVE detects any suspicious activity, making it to prevent charges:

    • 80190821
    • 80190848
    • 8004ad43
    • 8058F041
    • 80153410
    • 8C010003
    • 80190864
Here are some solutions you can try to resolve the problem

Solution 1: Check your billing address

Confirm that the billing address for your Xbox LIVE account is the same one used by your credit card company.

If the billing address is the same for your Xbox LIVE account and your credit card company, you can try this next solution

Solution 2: Contact your bank or financial institution

Here are the reasons why the Xbox LIVE purchase might have failed:

    • Your credit card has not been activated
    • You have insufficient funds in your credit card
    • Your credit card does not accept online purchases or automatic billing
    • The credit card company is blocking your credit card from being used
You should contact your bank or credit card company to confirm that the credit card is active, it has sufficient funds, and it is not being blocked for any reason.

If you have confirmed that all these are in order, try the following solution:

Solution 3: Try your purchase again later

Here are some of the reasons why the Xbox LIVE purchase might be blocked:

    • Recent purchase attempts have been declined several times
    • You are using the Xbox LIVE account or payment option from an incorrect location
    • You may have a non-payment violation on your payment option, so it is being prevented from making new purchases
Whenever there are several purchase failures, it can prevent new transactions from being processed until after a certain period. You should wait and try again after 24-48 hours.

If the problem persists after you have waited 48 hours, try this next solution.

Solution 4: Remove your card and try again

If you receive error 80190864 while trying to purchase a new Xbox LIVE subscription, it means the payment option you are using has a billing decline violation against it, and you can no longer use it to sign up. If the credit card you are using has an unpaid balance for a previous subscription, you will be required to use a new credit card.

Solution 5: Use a prepaid Microsoft Points or Membership card if available

Another option is to buy a prepaid Microsoft Points card from a retail location and use it to make your Xbox LIVE purchases. Not all purchases allow for the use of Microsoft Points or prepaid options. Make sure that the purchase you want to make allows for the use of Microsoft points or prepaid cards.

  4. Using More Than One Billing Account Congruently for Digital Purchases on XBOX Live

The ability to my knowledge has not been taken away.

The way to do it would be to choose the Microsoft account currency first then it should ask what payment option you want to use for the rest then you would choose the other option.

This is not true. An example: I have $25 in my Microsoft account and a credit card listed under as a payment option. When I want to buy something for $20, I am given the option to use either the monies in my Microsoft account or the credit
card payment options. However, when I want to buy something for $30, the Microsoft account option is grayed out and the full charge shows up on my credit card. I have tested this on the web and on both my XBOX consoles (a 360 and a ONE). No, the ability to
cover a shortage in your Microsoft account with a card is no longer available. It seems you must have enough monies to in your Microsoft account to complete the desired purchase or the system will default to your other payment option. If this is not true for
everyone, then what is wrong with my setup?

You may want to contact support and speak to billing. 1-800-4my-xbox if you're in the US/Canada or
Xbox One Support | Xbox 360 Support | Xbox Live and Billing Support/contact-us

There have been a lot of service alerts up recently for purchasing which could have been part of the issue, but the split payment option has not been removed. Not all content will work with a split option, but if it has happened to you multiple times then
it does appear to be an issue.
