    Using Microsoft account to purchase DLC?


    Hi, I can't seem to find the answer to this. I've just credited my sons Microsoft account so that he can buy some dlc for COD Ghosts. His Microsoft balance clearly shows he has £15 available, but each time he tries to buy the dlc from the Xbox One store
    the only payment option is a credit card. Please can you advise how I can safely buy the dlc? Thanks

    Has anyone else got $6.00 free from microsoft on 360?

    I was going to purchase a few games from xbox live on my 360 and I went to add a credit card and saw that for some reason that microsoft put $6.00 into my microsoft account and thought that was just from the rewards program. But I happen to check another account on my xbox 360 that i didn't even use the rewards program with and have just purchase one game with that account and it also has $6.00 in that account also is Microsoft given out $6.00 to us or what is the deal?

    How can I equip a gift card amount on the Xbox store ?

    You can't use a Microsoft account balance to purchase backwards compatible titles through the Xbox One or xbox.com. You have to purchase them on a Xbox 360 console using this balance.

    Hey there!

    Thanks for the support message.

    If you can use the currency to purchase the content, it will automatically be the default payment option. If you don't have enough currency to cover the entire purchase, you will need to use a credit/debit card to pay off the remaining balance.

    No, it's not a question of balance - he has £15 on his Microsoft account and the dlc he wants is less than £3. So any other suggestions please....?

    Sign into his account at
    http://commerce.microsoft.com     to make sure it does show the funds in his account and to make sure there are no errors on his account. As long as the funds are there, you should have the option on the console to change the payment method to his Microsoft
    account balance. You'll need to contact support and speak to billing.

    Hey there!

    There is no need to contact Xbox Official support as if the currency is not showing up, then you can not use the currency to make that purchase. Currency can not be used for all transactions.

    I've sorted it! Because we live in France the currency of the Microsoft account was in euros, so he had to download the dlc from the French website! However, I now have another problem...one of the dlc's he bought was the Heavy Metal pack for Call of Duty
    Ghosts. His account shows that he has it but he doesn't know how to access it in the game? The other dlc's are all showing as ready to install / play except this one. Any ideas please? Thanks

    Ignore the previous post about installing the Heavy Metal dlc - he's sorted it! He had to install it manually whereas the other dlc's were automatically installed and ready to play!
