    Using Kinect in place of Harmony remote


    I just recently learned about the Kinect's ability to control parts of your home theater. Currently, I can hit the "Watch TV" button on my Harmony remote and it will turn on the TV to HDMI1 input, turn on the AV receiver to HDMI1 input, and turn on the DirecTV
    receiver. Is it possible to program an "action" like this using a Kinect? Or would I have to say "turn on TV" then "turn on receiver", etc.? And if so, can I program multiple actions, such as "Watch Movie" and "Listen to Music", etc.? Also, do I HAVE to utilize
    the HDMI pass-through to enable these features? Since all my equipment is already passing through my AV receiver, I didn't really want to add another device that everything had to go through. Sorry for the long multi-part question but I couldn't find my answers
    from searching. Thanks in advanced!

    Harmony 650 for XB1?

    Is anyone using a Harmony 650 to control the XB1? I just ordered one and was reading that Harmony released XB1 codes for all of their remotes. How well does it work? Are there any less expensive remotes that work?

    Directv DVR controls not working after update

    I just tried using the play, FF, Rew, etc, using my Xbox One controller and they work fine. The problem has to do with being input from the Harmony remote, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense because the Xbox One gets the signal from the Harmony remote,
    but then doesn't output it to the Directv box.

    No, the xbox kinect will not replace a home IR repeater system. It is not a repeater system. It can only take voice commands or controller commands and send them to the devices.

    You will want to place the eye directly over the devices IR sensor for maximum reliability.

    You might want to check out the harmony hub, or harmony ultimate. These use RF and Wifi to control your devices. You will not even have to point the remotes at the tv anymore.

    Feature request to allow the Kinect to learn the IR codes from the vendor remote control for unrecognized devices. I have a Logitech Harmony remote, and that feature is very handy at times.

    It's the eve of the One's launch and I'm trying to prep my entertainment center for the new console, but I am running into MAJOR problems with the Harmony One remote programming. If I tell it that I want to use TV controls (which I must do, because I heard
    the Kinect won't let me access my DVR for some unknown reason) on the Xbox One Activity, then it forces me to automatically turn on my PVR, which could be problematic if the Kinect automatically turns on the cable box. Universal remote profiles aren't set
    up to contend with set ups of this nature, and I'm very concerned that this new idea is great for people without universal remotes. Problem is, I use several other devices that will still require the Harmony One. It's really frustrating. I hope Microsoft
    works with Harmony on this... they had their own Xbox branded Harmony last gen.

    Kinect and Smartglass aren't universal remotes.

    I have 4 consoles, a cable box, a Roku, surround sound system and TV in my entertainment center. Logitech Harmony remotes will control up to 15 platforms at a time, the Kinect and Smartglass are useless beyond the One and anything hooked directly into it.
