Using Headset and PC screen with no inbuilt speakers

Hi there,

So I've been doing some looking around and I'm not sure if it's just being over complicated or not, so just need a yes or no answer, really!

I bought a 360. I've never had one before - I went from PS3 to Xbox One so I've missed out on some great exclusives I wanted to play before the inevitable sequels come out. Anyway, I want to connect it to my PC. It doesn't have built in speakers, so I'm
unable to get sound for the 360.

If I buy a headset, will this work fine? Will I be able to hear the ingame sound? It seems from the various articles I've read that I would still need to have sound connected to my screen, regardless of whether or not I'm using it to be able to use headphones?

So basically, do I need external speakers to be able to use a headset?

My Xbox reboots when I change HDMI input on my TV

Less me guess, your using either a component cable thing, or have cracked open your AV cable so it will fit under the HDMI and are using that for audio? am i right?. I am doing the exact same thing, and have ran into to same problem, but have worked out
what is causing it, its the AV plug your using for audio, if you unplug that, then switch back, the xbox should be fine. Your just going to have to find another way to get audio.

My brother just got a new LED screen for his PC and Xbox, he also ran into the same problem, but his screen doesn't have inbuilt speakers, so it has an audio out of the screen, he just plugged that into some speakers (or into audio in on your PC to share
sound), he can now switch between PC and xbox with no problems. Hope this helps.

The only headsets I've seen online are 2 speakers and claiming its 7.1, plus they are wireless which I don't want. Wouldn't 8 speakers total of actual 5.1 beat 2 speakers simulating 7.1?

I can't use a headset using an RF signal...not so good with my wireless router.

You should be able to use a headset as your primary sound output device from your Xbox 360 console (assuming you're using a compatible headset). Do you have a particular headset in mind that you're thinking about using?

I personally have experience using an HDMI cable to connect my console to a monitor, then using an HDMI Audio Adapter to connect to my headset; which let me have game sound through the headset.
