    I am unsure if a Xbox Gift is refundable. I know a Microsoft Gift card is refundable if brought from Microsoft and in't use within 14 days. Do your son have a Xbox One? If so, he can use use the gift card for Gold/Gampass subscriptions and other Xbox
    One games.

    Gift cards cannot be used to purchase gift cards. The Microsoft account balance is essentially the same as a gift card since funds typically come from Xbox gift cards.

    Well it isn't the first time I used xbox gift cards to do this. Maybe there are different gift cards and I bought general one that can only be used in MS store instead of specific one for game pass sub. Could that be it?

    Splitting a payment

    There is not a way to split payment between two credit cards. what you can do is purchase a xbox gift card with one of the credit cards put that xbox gift card onto the account then you would be able to split the payment between the gift card balance choose
    this first as the first option that you want to use to pay then it will ask you how you want to pay the difference and then you can use the other credit card.
