Using external SSD increase FPS issues on Skyrim

I recently purchased Skyrim SE and have probably been overusing the mods, as after about 6 or 7 hours of gameplay, frame rates seem to be dropping, especially in combat or in cities with lots of NPCs. Disabling the majority of the mods I had running helped
a lot, but issues are still there, and I don't want to have to only run two or three mods as I don't feel it is worth it since I only bought the SE for the mods.

I have read in a few places that using an external SSD drive can greatly improve load times for games and overall performance, but wasn't sure if this would apply to using mods, since at least to me that would seem more like a burden on the CPU, not the overall
memory storage. But then, I might be wrong. Anybody have any insight on whether I should purchase an external SSD ($$$) or if there are other tricks to improve performance of using mods on an Xbox One?

BTW, using the original Xbox One, not the S.

    :)

    SSD for External Drive?

I am using a 500GB SSD with an external USB 3.0 case and would buy it again.

The performance increase is very noticable and for games like Forza unvaluable.

Leaving games with no loading time on the internal drive and moving games with many loading times to SSD is the key ! Using external SSD increase FPS issues on Skyrim :)

  3. External hard drive for xbox one what to you use?

    @floorboss

The internal is 5400RPM. using a 7200RPM or even an SSD will increase performance. I seen a thread on neoGAF where one user tested a SSD and seen a 30-40% performance increase in load times. a 7200RPM will probably give you a smaller 10-15% increase

Third-party mods aren't exactly "regulated" to keep up to performance standards of vanilla Skyrim (as far as I know), so it can quickly become chaotic the more mods you throw on the game.

SSDs will definitely improve load/access times for anything installed on it, but I doubt that it will necessarily improve frame rates for modded Skyrim.

If mod objects are loaded into the game world, they'll get loaded into the world quicker (loaded from the SSD), but while in action, that's mostly left for the CPU/GPU to juggle around. Depending on how the mods actually work and load content from the storage,
    your mileage will vary.

Xbox Game Pass PC error 0x8007001f when installing games

Exact same issue, exact same setup. I run off a external SSD for the increased speed as my Imac 27 - 2019 doesn't have an SSD. Basically I can't play most games from my game pass which is very disappointing.

Pubg144hz monitor for smooth frame rate

    Hello!

If you're getting smooth performance from COD, Fornite, & Apex Legends, it's most likely an issue with pubg itself (servers, coding, etc.). I would expect a minimal increase in performance, if any at all, using an external SSD or 144hz monitor. This is assuming
there's no other issues with the system, internet, etc.
