Using CTIA earbuds on a controller featuring 3.5mm

If you use the link below it looks like you can use headsets / earbuds that use the CTIA standard on Xbox One controllers with the 3.5mm headphone port or connected to the headset adapter.

What kind of headphones are they? I assume they're plugged in via 3.5mm jack on the controller? If they are, there's still a matter of incompatibility as the 3.5mm interface could be either CTIA or OMTP standard.

Here's a clip from the

"If you use an OMTP headset, you’ll probably experience audio or chat issues. However, if your headset or earbuds use the OMTP standard, you can purchase an adapter to convert the device to CTIA.
These adapters are available at many electronic retail stores."

To check, are you using Apple earbud headphones?

Beats & Apple headphones use OMTP standard for 3.5mm audio jacks but Xbox One uses the CTIA standard. You can try purchasing a third-party accessory CTIA to OTMP adapter but we're not able to guarantee that will help.

Hello again, it's very strange that the two controls are in the same situation, have you ever tried to update the controls and test with another type of Headset on the controls?

There are two connection patterns, the Xbox controller needs to be CTIA.

Not all 3.5mm audio jacks are made to the same standard. There are two audio jack standards:

Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA), and

Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP)

If you use an OMTP headset, you’ll probably experience audio or chat issues.

However, if your headset or earbuds use the OMTP standard, you can purchase an adapter to convert the device to CTIA. These adapters are available at many electronic retail stores.

The following images show the differences in the CTIA and OMTP standards. The

CTIA standard has the microphone section of the jack closer to the end of the cable while the OMTP standard has the ground section of the jack closer to the end of the cable.

Could go for the official
Xbox One Stereo Headset. I've seen it on sale for $50 different places over the last month. Another option is you can get the headset adapter and any 3.5mm headset or earbuds designed for a cell phone that uses the CTIA plug standard and you will
get game and chat audio right through the controller.
