Using an Xbox One without Xbox Live Gold.

I suppose it's a matter of perspective. I view the games with gold as icing on a cake. Some games, like anyone else, I've liked more than others. It's a distraction for me to download and play games that I would normally not pay for. So, it's fun. But that's
the point. Also, I don't think I've paid more than $40 dollars or so for a year, cause there are deals all the time.

 

I thought it was pretty much common knowledge that you lose access to GWG if your Live subscription expires. It works the same way with PlayStation's PS+ games. It would be nice if you could still play them without an active subscription, but it is what
it is. It's not like MS hides this fact or was dishonest about it.

The truth is hidden behind a bare faced lying ad that reads exactely the way I posted it in my opening comments. These ads since November 2015 say one thing on the SURFACE but behind it, and it may take an entire year to UNCOVER it's cancerious underside
like it did with Rentals with Gold, everythings drastically different. Lucy movie for example. '5 bucks' the ad said. Yet when you click on it. '8.99.¨ Come to the forums to discuss such happenings, and you're ridiculed for even pointing it out.

Genchy, you're just angry that unlike you, my nature is to err on the side of the consumer. I am NOT you, nor will I ever be like you. So ya might as well get used to you and I having opposing opinions on this, but a whole host of subjects.

pkvas, charging for XBL services started off because MS was projected to foot the bill for game servers for all the MP games sold on it's system. EA and others quickely put a stop to it and forum regulars back in the day, just like today, jumped all over
them and even threatened to boycot EA for not siding with MS. I was on the forums at that time and remember well partisipating in the bashing of EA.

Fastforward some 16 years.

Why, if game servers, their upkeep and upgrade costs is on game developers. Is MS still charging for XBL when all it has been regilagated to since 02 is a switchboard?

1st thing that happens when you fire up your X1 (already set up) is. now signed in to XBL. Does it matter if you are Gold or Silver? No, so why GOLD? Because if you aren't Gold the switchboard will not connect your games to EA, Ubi, etcs game
servers.

So after MS began allowing silvers to connect to apps, the bus model then switched to awarding people for going/remaining Gold with free games.

Then came along the X1, DRM, etc, and that's where we are today.

If I am wrong on any of the above pkvas, then by all means point it out.

Lei, sorry, but I was gold only for the games. Now that I know those games, at least on the X1, were a ruse. I see no point in gold.

Newely released games. You'll pay retail no matter if your gold or silver. Since I no longer play MP Online, and GwG is nothing more than a rental service. How could I possible justify remaining gold?

Or you could always read the details sometime before that year is up.

Glitches happen. The system is programmed by humans, and humans screw things up. Constantly.

If I remember correctly, you were ridiculed because you acted as if it was some sort of conspiracy, not simply because you pointed it out.

 

To err is human, to admit to and correct those errors is but one of the things which seperates us from animals.

 

You have told us in many threads, before your buying a X Box One, that you research before buying products ElectroFlying; as it's been know since before the X Box was released the "Free" games were actually "Rentals", I can either guess your research methods
need work or you have a selective memory.

$60.00 a year shouldn't be a hardship for a hobby...

Very good D33dles, however I did my research mainely on the console itself, the rep sytem that governs it, and the realiability of it.

I spent countless hours here on the forums reading and rereading over the problems others were reporting.. You know, just before forum regulars trolled their threads to tick 'em off enough so as to justify having them locked/deleted.

Anywho, not once on this xbox one forum did I read about free games being rentals. So this particular thread... For ever how long it lasts before I am called. ¨A troll¨ and is locked. Is the 1st that I am aware of.

 

Oh, forgot.

Hobbies are a dead expense. I game, and I like to game because it's about all I can do!

 

Wouldn't call you a troll as I've liked some of your opinions, and the ones that weren't agreeable...well I liked them too; any feedback in this dying forum is welcome for the most part.

Follow the link I gave for Bing rewards. I've used points for Live, X Box currency, Skype credit, and gift cards for GameStop and Best Buy. I do "research" anyway...might as well get something back for searching.

It's definitely been discussed and mentioned many times in this forum. With as active as you seem to be, I'm not sure how you've missed it.

Their is something like 2000 threads more or less, on this particular forum. Find me a single one on this forum that openly discussed how free games with gold on the X1 was in reality free retals just so long as you maintained a subscription to gold.

Umm... could this be how the idea of EA access came about?

You act as if it's some big secret, but most other people here seem to know how it works. I also just saw that same "$700 in games" ad you mentioned, and it states that you need an active subscription right on the ad.

Be sure to actually read the entire ad. It's in the terms, which isn't exactly hidden or a very long read.
