    Using an ex's Contracted Xbox 360


    Hi everyone. My ex bought the $99 Xbox 360 a while back and discontinued making the payments and did not take it with her when she moved out.

    I've had it sitting under my TV not knowing what to do with it. I read I can't trade it in or sell it since it was under contract.

    Her Xbox Live Gold profile is no longer active and I wasn't sure what I could do to make the Xbox mine. Do I have to start at the beginning and pay the $14.99 for two years?!

    Any advice or workarounds are greatly appreciated.

    only reason the short gap between the xbox and xbox 360 was contracts and court rulings over the chipset deal with Nvidia

    pretty sure only the original purchaser of the console will be able to make the payments you cannot transfer the contract to another user sorry.

    You should tell her that the Xbox is contracted with her. If she doesn't want to collect the Xbox then that is up to her. But she will be the one paying for it. And if she misses any payments that is down to her. She will be the one in trouble not you. Though
    it may be a possibility to contact the retailer that she bought it from and ask if their is any possibility transfering the contract to you, with signed paperwork.

    That screen will only appear on a subsidized Xbox 360 system that was purchased on contract. During the 2 year contract term, the system needs to periodically connect to verify the contract status. If the contract is not current (aka you stop paying before
    the contract is up), the system will be banned from Xbox Live.



    Again, this is not a screen that will ever appear on a standalone Xbox 360 purchased at full retail. It will only appear on a subsidized system purchased under a contract.

    You need to return that system for a refund because YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED. The seller bought the Xbox 360 bundle for $99 and a contract which requires payment of $15 a month for 24 months. The seller had to have known this would happen
    because when the console is purchased under one of those plans a contract has to be signed and the console is registered to the seller. If, at any point in those two years the contract is not current (aka you stop paying before the contract is up), the system
    will be banned from Xbox Live.
