Using a Mac to display xbox on zoom for a school gaming session?

I went to Settings>Display & Brightness>Display Zoom : switched from Standard to Zoomed. Then I was able to see the Login button you described and was able to get in and use the app now.

I am really trying to get the xbox screen to show up but I don't know what to do.

In order to get a Xbox One display on your Mac, you'll have to do more than just plug some cables together.

You can't connect the Xbox HDMI cable to the computer, as the computer can't be used as an external display for another device (an exception would be Target Display Mode for Mac-to-Mac display).

If you want to stream the Xbox One game display to your Mac, you will have to install "OneCast" from here: https://onecast.me/

That software is a similar streaming client like the Xbox app for Windows 10.

After setting up the software, make sure the software finds the Xbox One on the network, and then play.

Since you're at school, you're likely on your dorm's network, right? With that being the case, you may want to talk to your IT department for your building or the school and ask them to put your Xbox's MAC address on the "white list" if they will let you.
A lot of schools won't let gaming consoles on their network like that since they aren't built for it. You can find your Xbox's MAC address under the Additional tab in the Configure Network option in Network Settings.

^ Yes mate the subs display in the border, not sure you'd want to zoom the display area though, the FOV is horrendous in this game. Really needs a patch to allow you to remove the borders and pull the camera back.
