Using a laptop as a monitor (series s)

laptops have a hdmi for output only so you could not use the laptop screen directly, but you can stream the xbox to the windows 10 xbox app but you will have latency and poorer resolution to boot.

Very few laptops have HDMI inputs, and when I say 'very few' it's probably less than 5% and only in more expensive models. It's a little more common now in 'All in One' PCs, but only the mid to high end systems. The Lenovo V530 AIO for example has both HDMI out and HDMI in.

Your laptop with its i3 processor won't have an HDMI in. The HDMI port on your device can only used to give your laptop a second screen, it can't be used to connect an external device such a console to the the built in display. It's an output not an input.

As Farscape has already mentioned, you can stream your console to your laptop, but this will have latency issues and run at a lower resolution, it's not the same as running the console on a TV or monitor.

The HDMI port on your laptop is likely only an HDMI out, so that you can hook it up to an external TV/monitor and output its display to that.

In order to display the Series S's output on your laptop's screen, it would have to have an HDMI in port.

What's the make/model of the laptop?

I am using an Xbox series s and the monitor is a Phillips, previously before using the monitor I had a tv and there was no issues

Does the 1080p support go for both the Series S and Series X, or just the Series S?

1080p is supported by both Series X / S,

However if your only playing at 1080p and have no plan's of upgrading to a 4K TV / Monitor, The Xbox Series S would be recommended as is a 1080p / 1440p gaming console and you would save £/$200, than getting the Series X, as that is a 4K gaming console and
you would never get to use the full potential of it if used on a 1080p TV / Monitor.
