using a different e-mail on same account

I don't know how else to title this, but anyway.....

All I wanted to do was create a new hotmail and use that on an existing Xbox Live account. But that's not what I got. When I created my new hotmail, it automatically gave me a new xbox account. I DIDN'T want a new xbox account. Now I want to delete this
new xbox account in order to use my new e-mail on an existing xbox live account. That doesn't so hard to do is it?

Can you sign in Xbox live with a different E-mail account?

So, I have already an Xbox Live user and my E-mail account I used to sign in Xbox Live is about to close. Can I use a different E-mail account to sign in Live with the same user?

It's important, because I have all my achievements/ plus friends in this user and I cannot try it out, because I have not created another E-mail account, yet.

Two gamer tags associated to one email address

So what you did was change the sign in e-mail, not the login e-mail. The log in e-mail still uses the old address. You can change his Microsoft Account using the steps here:

support.xbox.com/.../switch-gamertag-to-different-microsoft-account

However to do that you will need to use a different e-mail as you can't have 2 gamertags on the same e-mail.

Each account is tied to a specific gamertag. If you created a new email (such as you did), it would give you a new gamertag. What you are asking for isn't possible.

When it says "Windows Live ID is associated with a different gamertag" that means that the e-mail is already tied to this gamertag. You won't be able to use this same e-mail for that account. You would need to use a totally different e-mail that's not tied
to any account.

The same Microsoft Account wouldn't be usable across two gamertags, it's like likely that you may have mistyped your e-mail or used a different e-mail for your original Xbox Live account. Have you had a chance to test different e-mail addresses?

Are you positive that the account you reset your e-mail to was the same e-mail you used for that (old) gamertag? Did you make two of a similar character e-mail address, maybe just different numbers?
