Username Not Taken But Has Numbers?

i want a username thats not taken, i search it up and nothing comes up, and i also try to send a friend request from a 360 game and it doesnt work (meaning no one exists with the user i think) but it still has a # with numbers at the end even though it
is not in use?

If it has numbers after it then it is in use somewhere on one of Microsofts services.

Gamertags aren't just used on xbox live & you have to get the gamertag exactly right when searching for it.

This means that someone else has that gamertag as well so to distinguish between the two of you, you've been given a number. If you choose a gamertag that hasn't been taken there won't be a number next to your name. This is very similar to how discord
handles usernames.

Recover the bad GT on your console and change the email address associated to it. (make sure its a good email address you can access)

Then recover the good GT and you should be all set.

When you create a Xbox Live/Games for Windows Live account, you'll given a default name, you can change that name whenever you like. It is not the same as your Hotmail address. My email address is not "ZenLikeCalm@____", it's
something else.

Incidently, you will not be able to use the name headlesslizard as it is already taken
by someone else.

@Juan Van, the OP is using a GFWL (PC) account, so it's highly likely that he doesn't have a console.

Someone has already taken the username of your Gamertag. You will just have to use a different username on that website.
