Used a code and didn't receive the item

The best thing to do is start out by contacting the company or place that you received the code from. they should be able to see what is going on with the code.

Have you tried power cycling your xbox one? If you hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and turn your console back on it should be fixed. If not it may be due to xbox’s currently increased traffic therefore wait 24 hours and contact support at support.xbox.com
and they should be able to lend a hand

When you gift items to a Microsoft account you will receive those items trough a message with a redeemable code, you need to redeem that code on the account that you need the items

Remember that this will only be received trough Xbox, you can't access the items on other devices, first you need to receive the items trough a Xbox console, even if the accounts are linked, you need to log in a Xbox

If you didn't receive the codes, you can find the codes in the order history of the account that made the gift

If you've got a receipt you can return item. My experience.

I purchased a Halo edition headset that was supposed to come with a code for rewards in game. I received the item and so did 50 others who didn't receive the code as stated at the time of purchase. We all got to keep the item and another headset with the code
was sent to us or you could just pick another item that is worth what you lost.

If it's a retailer... then they know better, and you can just get your money back or file a complaint with Better Business Bureau.
