Use Wireless Controller with the Xbox AND PC

Hello,

i want to use my 2 Xbox Wireless Controllers with my Xbox and my PC. However when i turn off my Xbox and activate my Controllers to use them with my Wireless Adapter on my PC, the Xbox turns on. There is no way to deactivate this feature. Any help how to
get this working?

Connecting my Xbox 360 controller to Windows 8 laptop.

For wireless Xbox 360 controllers, you cannot use the charging cable to connect to a PC (it only transfers power, not data). To use the controller with a PC, you will either need an "Xbox 360 controller for Windows" (non-detachable cable) or use your existing
wireless controller with the wireless gaming receiver for Windows.

Xbox 360 Controller does not work on my PC ?

I am guessing the controller is a wired controller as the Wireless controller with Wireless PC adapter comes with drivers on a DVD in the box which work with Windows 8 (I use them myself).

As mentioned earlier by IceStorm III, a wireless controller with a Play and Charge kit won't work as that play and charge kit only carries power to charge/run a wireless controller with your Xbox 360.

If it is indeed a wired Xbox 360 controller you are trying to use with Windows 8 you can use the Windows 7 drivers which you can download here:

It as to be connected via usb cable to work on a PC if you are using Win 10 the drivers should be installed.

Is the controller a wireless controller or wired? If it is wireless, how are you connecting it? If by using the play & charge kit, then the Xbox 360 controller will not work, as the cable is only recognized on PC for charging only. You need to use a Xbox
360 Wireless adapter for PC to connect a wireless Xbox 360 controller to your PC.

are you trying to connect a wired Xbox 360 controller or are you using a wireless 360 controller via the play and charge cable.

If it is the wireless controller that you will need a wireless received in order to connect it to a PC, the cable is only used to charge the wireless controller battery pack.

Unfortunately unlike the Xbox One controllers, the wireless Xbox 360 controllers remain wireless regardless of whether you connect them to a PC with a Play and Charge. You can't make an Xbox 360 wireless controller a wired controller.

If you want to use your 360 wireless controller on a PC you'll need to buy an Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver for Windows.

If the Xbox 360 controller is a wired controller, then the controller can be used on the PC, just plug it in the USB port, and it should recognize it and let you use it. If it is a wireless Xbox 360 controller, then you will need the Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows to connect the controller to your PC.

XBOX controller is not used on the PC. If you want to play on the PC with XBOX controller you need Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver
