use advanced installation and management features not showing

Same over here. And I don't have this "Use advanced installation and management features" button in the Xbox app's Settings/General.

Sometimes in the Xbox App, if you "Manage" the game, it'll sometimes have the option to say "This game supports advanced Management Features" and has the option to enable that. It'll then move the game to a folder that does have modifiable permissions that aren't possible in generally installed Windows Store apps. Does it show that option under Manage for the game in question?

Apps are required to be in that folder in order to work and in any drive you want to install games the folder will be created to install the games, if you wanna modify the files in the folder you have to take ownership of the folder, you can do that following this steps

That's going to be changing very soon. In fact, users can easily sign up to be an insider for the Xbox App and test out the new up-coming installation features that will eventually be available to all users by default.

Advanced Installation and Management Features available for Insiders through the Xbox App for Windows

Without enabling the advanced install features, the default install folder is the encrypted 'WindowsApps' folder. This folder is encrypted and protected, changing the ownership will have no effect on this.

The insiders advanced features option can install supported games to any directory, and unlike the WindowsApps folder, these directories are not protected. Supported games are ones where 'Administration approval required for installation' is listed on the download screen.

However, through subsequent attempts and inquiries, I think that the computer with the "advanced installation" problem has a problem with the operation of the Xbox app before the "advanced installation" is enabled, rather than the Xbox Insider itself.



My computers in question were unable to successfully create a desktop shortcut to the game before and after enabling "Advanced Installation and Management Features". And the top of the app will prompt an error, and clicking it will jump to Microsoft's error 0x80073d26 page. (Although it does not affect the main functions of the app, such as downloading and running games)



And my 4th PC running the Xbox "Advanced Install" succeeded, it had no errors before and after enabling the "Advanced Install and Management Features" and successfully created the shortcut. By the way, I've already tried "Reinstall Windows from this device". still doesn't work.

Thank you for the reply. The link above does not appear to provide any kind of how to for enabling mods.

This is part of my confusion too. From what I've read the ability to mod is now activated automatically.

Am I right in thinking you should be able to check if a game is moddable by selecting the three dots on the game image in the downloaded list then selecting manage then under the general tab the option should be there. If so on the games I'm looking to mod there is nothing there referencing mods. However I do have a game that show the below messages which leads me to believe this game is not moddable where as the others are

"Advanced game features, this game does not support advanced installation and management features." Also the get help link with this just links to troubleshooting of installing games I can't see any reference to the advanced game features.
