Xbox One Won't Read exFat Drive

    Hello!

In order to use an external hard drive for the Xbox One it must meet the requirements.

External drives are required to be formatted NTFS per:

For an external storage drive to save games and apps from Xbox One, it must meet the following requirements:

It uses a USB 3.0 connection. If you’re using a USB hub, the hub must also be USB 3.0 or later.

It has 256 GB or larger storage capacity.

It has a partition. Typically, drives come with a preformatted partition. For more information about partitioning an external hard drive, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.

  3. Can I watch movies from my external hard drive?

to watch movies from my external hard drive on XBOX One, you will have have to divide the drive in to smaller partitions ,i noticed that XBOX One and 360 can read a 128gig USB thumb drive, then i tried this and it works

I have a 2T My Passport USB 3.0 drive . and create smaller partitions works fine, I actually split the drive equally on a 2.0 USB external drive and that worked also

not sure what is the largest partition it will read I will keep experimenting

use a partition external hard drive with xbox one.

    Hi saber,

As far as I am aware, if you want to use a hard drive with your Xbox One, you will have to format the whole thing. As of now it's not possible to format a particular partition.

There is no reason why you can't post this as something you would like to see in the future on the new feedback site - Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice
