USB unformatted itself from Xbox 360

So today I wanted to download Gotham city impostors and it worked out fine. I have two usb flash drives with 4gb(3gb really) each. I have a 4gb slim model so I use flash drives I had found around the house. The flash drives have been working fine for me,
but after downloading all the compatibility packs and stuff I played the game fine, and turned it off, came back played it again and turned off system, but now I came to play and my game was suddenly missing from the my games tab. I then looked at my usb drives
because I thought oh no, did it unconfigure? And it did unconfigure, but this isn't the first time. It seems to happen occasionally I am thinking it happens when I have stuff downloaded on this flashdrive. I will be getting something newer and better soon,
may even get a hard drive, but I was wondering can I recover the files on it and make the flashdrive work again(The data is still there when I plug into computer, it shows 4 files I can access, but it has all the space used up still)? I don't wanna have to
reformat it again and then have it delete the next day. Also can I prevent it, I heard turning console straight off while using usb can corrupt it, if I hold guide button and turn off console in the middle of game is that the problem.

Edit: Also, using the other USB is not an option because CoD: Ghosts is installed on that flash drive already.

    :)

    USB Unformatted Itself

File system corruption happens when you: A, use a crappy USB stick, or B, use a good USB and it's dying. Either way, there's no way to get your files back. Don't use USB sticks. Use an external HDD instead, or your internal memory.

    USB Unformatted Itself

Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately if the USB device reformatted itself there is no way to get those saves back. Reformatting usually happens if there's an issue with the device itself. Sometimes this is due to the age of the device or some devices do not
play well with the Xbox consoles.
