USB system update for xbox 360 console,downloaded to Win 10 PC first. help appreciated.

In order to get your
Xbox 360 console updated via USB, follow the instructions here.

Insert an empty USB flash drive into your PC (make sure the drive is FAT formatted, not NTFS).

Download the
Xbox 360 offline system update from this link.

Double click on the downloaded ZIP file and copy the "Systemupdate" folder to the USB drive. Copy the whole folder. Do not move files out of the folder to the USB drive, and do not simply copy the ZIP file over. You need to unpack the folder to the USB drive.

Safely eject the USB drive from your PC.

Then insert the USB drive into your console and it should automatically detect the update.

If not, turn the console off, insert the USB drive with the update folder, and turn the console back on.

I just fixed the problem. Downloaded update to USB drive on PC then transferred update to 360 console via USB drive. Directions here:

If you want to update your 360 using a USB drive with the system update downloaded from xbox.com then you do not need to configure it for USB storage on the console.

Simply format the USB stick as FAT32 on your PC and place the System Update folder on to it. Then put it in your 360.

It should be detected as soon as you put the drive in the console but if not, power off and on again with the USB in the 360.

To try the following, you will need two USB drives, that can be erased.

First, insert an empty USB drive with at least 8GB of storage in the Xbox 360, and in the settings under Storage, let that drive be prepared as game storage.

Then use a second USB drive and plug it into your PC/Laptop.

Download the offline update for the Xbox 360 from here: https://support.xbox.com/xbox-360/console/system-updates-info

Make sure you unpack the downloaded update to the USB drive. DO NOT simply copy the ZIP file over.

If done correctly, you should have a SystemUpdate$ folder on the drive with several files inside that folder.

Safely remove the USB drive from your PC, and insert the drive with the update files in the console. Turn on the console, and it should find the update on the flash drive.

If the console still can't update itself, then the flash memory on the board is corrupted.

Unfortunately, Microsoft can't service the Xbox 360 console anymore, and you'd have to buy a new console.

I downloaded it with a Win 10 pc and then I copied the folder into my usb flash drive first, then in an external hdd but none of them worked.
