Is my Xbox one X faulty??

Nope. If i hold the button to shut it down the only way to keep it off is to unplug the hard drive. Its 100% the hard drive causing this issue. But the one i had before which was also wall powered did not cause this issue.

Anyone here use a hard drive plugged into the back usb ports usb or wall powered?

I just turned my xbox on while in instant on mode and it never shut down. So it doesnt seem to do it all the time.

I'm using an external 3tn usb 3.0 that is usb powered.

Power cycling the Xbox via the power cable temporarily bypasses the issue until it happens again.

Having to re-download my profile each time I want to play Live....

I'd suggest getting a USB flash drive and preparing it for use as a Memory Unit.

    support.xbox.com/.../usb-flash-drive

Then, power down, remove the hard drive, power up. and redownload the profile to the Memory Unit. If the same problems occur, then you have a connectivity issue. If the problem goes away, the hard drive needs to be reformatted after you have moved all offline
game saves to the USB flash drive.

    Updates

Try preparing a USB flash drive as a memory unit, power down the Xbox, remove the hard drive, and power up with the USB flash drive in it for the update processing.

Wreckfest wont load past the splash screen

do you have any usb devices connected? headset or hard drive etc..... as its a known issue with this game, fully power the xbox off and unplug the power and unplug any usb devices from your console (if the game is installed on a usb external drive then copy
to internal drive first) then plug power back in and power console on and try the game.

It is hopefully going to be fixed on the next patch for the game :)
