    USB Ports stopped working properly


    They stopped reading my external HDD with all my games in it. I've also tried connecting a flash drive that worked a week ago to watch videos that won't work either. It seems all externals aren't detected by any of the ports.

    The play and charge kit won't connect the controller to the console either but it still charges it.

    I've tried a hard reset many times but still had the same issues. I then tried a factory reset which didn't fix the issue and re-updated the console but still no fix.

    I've found another person with the same issue and something we have in common is that we're both in the preview program and are using day one consoles. A cousin of mine who's using a Sunset Overdrive console has had no issues so maybe this is more of an
    issue for day one users.

    Thrustmaster 458 TX wheel not working anymore after update

    Update (cant edit it seems), i figured out both rear USB ports stopped working. Neither controller or wheel is working on those, only the side still working.

    How many truly broken Kinects?

    I had an issue with my Kinect sensor switching on and off. The problem turned out to be the Skylanders portal connected the the USB port on the back of the Xbox.

    I suspect that anything that draws power from the USB port could cause the Kinect sensor to stop working properly

    The Play and Charge cable isn't meant to be used as a Micro USB cable... That's your problem. You'll have to use a Micro USB cable to update the controller(s)

    I also have a problem with it not charging correctly while playing with a low battery so I can't help you there.

    That is odd since it works fine as a micro USB cable. However, as luck may have it, I had a small stack of about 30 Micro USB cables, new and old, and of all lengths.

    Same problem, with EVERY cable.

    Yes i have tried with different cables, and they both suffer from the same issue - need to bend back to work.

    They also work perfectly well on other devices such as my phone.

    Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

    Have you tried to use a different cable just to check if it's the controller or the cable itself?

    Also, if you have tried all the necessary steps, replacing the console is indeed the last resort.
