USB port not recognised whilst trying to do an offline system update

    Hi,

I keep getting an error message which means I need to do an offline system update. I have followed all the steps carefully but when it comes to plugging in the flash drive into a USB port on the console to then activate the Offline System Update on the Troubleshoot
page, the Flshdrive isn't being recognised. I've tried it in all the USB ports but it isn't working. The flash drive has worked perfectly well in the laptop to download the files onto. Can anyone help please?

    :)

    Hi,

Does your console detect any other peripheral or devices, like a keyboard ?

    Hi,

Yes it does recognise the keyboard. Strange that it's not recognising the USB flash drive but the USB flashdrive works in the laptop....?

I suggest you do a deep NTFS format to your USB drive using Command Prompt. and try to perform the offline update again.

    Please follow the steps below:

Step 1. Plug in your USB drive, Launch and Click the “Start” button and enter “cmd” in the search box; then right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as Administrator”.

Step 2. Type following commands in bold one by one, and press “Enter” after each one.

Type Diskpart to launch Diskpart to format USB drive.

Type list disk all disks on your computer will be listed along with a number.

Type select disk #: # is the number of the USB drive, make sure to replace # for the drive number; you could end up wiping out the wrong drive. Proceed with caution.

Type clean all data on the selected disk will be cleaned.

    Type create partition primary

    Type select partition 1

    Type format fs=NTFS quick

Type assign letter f: give the formatted partition with a specific drive letter.

Thank you for the info, your first suggestion was correct, I do have Windows and not a Mac.

My point is that USB drive has to be formatted to NTFS format to do the offline update. Because most USB drive come formatted as FAT32. The commands I provided above are for Windows OS, It is just another method to do the NTFS format.

I believe nn Macbook You will need a third party app to do the format like Tuxera or Paragon.

    Hope it helps.
