usb port for charge kit

I just buy one charge kit for wireless controller, instruction said you need start on power xbox console for charge battery controller, but when i plug in the usb cable on rear side while xbox was power off (not in energy saver) i can see the light in usb
cable on, first time it was orange fix and after same hours it was white colors light,

the battery was charged whatever the console was power off.

So is it possible the usb ports are powered on whatever the console is off ?

Hi there,

it's fairly normal that the USB ports are powered when a device is connected to power.

What also might be the case is that if your console is set to Instant-On it's basically in stand-by mode, so not fully powered off.

if it is set to Energy safe mode the console will fully power down, but even then the usb ports might still be able to use power to charge items when needed.

You could plug the controller plug and charge kit through the USB port with your xbox and charge it that way.

Hi

The play and charge kit should charge the controller when connected to a USB port on a laptop however please be aware that some PC's/Laptops switch off USB ports to save power if they are not in use.

The USB port can be used for charging, but only when using the
Play and Charge kit as stated above. Without the play and charge battery in the controller, the usb port would only power the controller.
