    USB Media Player Folder Icons

I am messing around with the new USB Media Player app and was wondering if anyone found a way to edit the folder icons that contain my music files. I prefer icons for all of my files and just finished with the songs but would like to, for instance, change
a folders icon to individual artist pictures and so fourth for their albums.

    :)

Media Player App: Add cover for folders?

How to add a cover picture of a season or a movie to the folder on the usb drive in media player of the xbox one? I don't mean the thumbnail of the movie on the movie file. I mean the folder, something like album.jpg or content-small.jpg.

    Media Player App Issues

    I experience the same issues.

128 gb USB drive with about 75 gb of music files on it. Have plugged it into all the USB ports.

Playing a single music folder (typically a single album) is not a problem. If I try to shuffle the entire USB drive, however, it stops during song 2 or 3 and kicks back out to the dashboard.

As for the general playback, it's super frustrating that when you hit the back button, the media player stops playing the current track. You should be able to browse other files / folders within the USB drive without stopping your current track. This was
available on 360, no reason it shouldn't be included on the One's media player.

Xbox One S and External Drive - Some folders show as Empty (even though they have files in on Windows 10)

Thanks for the reply but I don't think that is the cause of the issue as all the media files in question are xbox compatible format (using VLC player) and all folder file names are not that long.

If I copy the video folder from the USB drive (4tb) that i'm having the issue with to another ntfs USB drive (2Tb) then the console finds and plays the media fine.

So my current theory is that the console may have an issue with large USB drives (over 3 tb) that are attached as media drives and that contain large amounts of files (1,400+ folders, 5,000+ files)

I have not verified that there may be other files not showing up other than the ones I have noticed.

I'd love to be able to run a tool on the xbox to do a file folder count.

Another aspect to my story is that the USB drive i'm having issues with is a hardware raid device with mirroring enabled.

I'm not sure this fact has significance as it attaches fine to any PC.

    The mystery continues.

    Thanks for listening.

    Play To disappearing

The only problem with using the Media Player is that my videos are on two separate hard drives. I have them separated into folders using letters of the alphabet for each folder and the N-Z folders are all symlinked from the Video folder to their locations
on the second drive. The Media Player won't see the symlinks at all so I can't access half my video library from the Media Player. I can play them from Play To, however it'll drop out from time to time, usually if I reboot the media server and the Xbox is
    still on. It's annoying.

Xbox Music duplicating content on PCs

    Hey ldl01031,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with duplicate songs.

From the files that you linked it looks like it is creating a new instance of the song in your overall music folder, the Xbox Music folder, and then a backup in the Xbox Music Cache. With the size of the network and volume of songs it sounds like you're trying
to manage, this may not be an issue we can completely resolve as the Media Player is not intended to function in that capacity.

That being said, I would still recommend you check out the
    Windows Media Player Troubleshooter
    .

There is also these steps to remove duplicate items from your library:

**I would recommend backing up your data first before trying either of these methods**

    a. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

    b. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

Note: You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

    c. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Exit Windows Media Player.

    b. If you are running Windows 7, click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

    c. Select the Media Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

    d. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

I'm not 100% on this method as it doesn't look like these files are true duplicates since they are not being saved into the same destinations.

Please let us know how that all works for you and we'll go from there.
