USB media playback!?!?

X1 the "all in ONE media device", yet still no USB media playback...

MS is to cheap to license codecs?? scared they will get sued again??

Or they obviously want us to buy there over priced media thru xbox and not lets us play our USB media library

With this cinavia BS now we prob cant even play alot of stuff

Funny they went on and on about TV/media how awesome the snap feature is ,blah blah blah, yet when you snap movies/tv , youtube etc while a game is running it LAGS and is completely worthless

Just port over VLC or something

Xbox One - My Home Theater Device: Perks and Consequences

Windows Media Player already installed in Windows 7 (or a free download if you have the N version). Xbox One Media Player to play that content. You can control all playback functions with Kinect.

Alternatively purchase NAS with built in media server. Use Xbox One's Media Player to playback content. Use Kinect to control playback.

Buy a media remote if you don't have Kinect.

You seem to be adding needlessly complex steps to your media playback.

 

Still no usb playback?....wtf?

When we getting usb playback then?....this system that is suppose to replace all my devices can't do ***!...blu ray lip sync is shocking...cannot play a simple media file from USB....kinect don't recognise children's voices.....what an absolute let down

You can use OneDrive, which Ive found is the same as USB playback and actually better. You get much more space with OneDrive

 

Onedrive is useless for watching movies as that's what he wants to do. Watch his torrented movies off usb

 

Thats weird you mention its useless for watching movies, as Ive got about 20 GBs of movies and tv shows stored in OneDrive.

 

I don't torrent movies or tv shows or music. But I do have a buttload of media backup on my laptop (Windows 8.1) which I stream to my One via the Play To feature. Works like a dream when everything is wired. When my laptop is not connected via ethernet there
is some lag in video. Only problem I have had with the streaming is .mkv files aren't recognized but I convert those to MP4 and poof they work like a dream.

 

What is OneDrive some sort of cloud storage? we have capped internet over here with horrible upload speeds, no way that would work, but thanks for info
