USB Media Drive not recognized on Xbox One? Solution

Does you're Xbox One not recognize the USB Media Device?

The Xbox One seems to have some issues with hot-swapping external USB Media Drives.

The best way is to fully turn- the device off! (holding down the power button for 10sec./ or shut it down in the config-menu

Then Plug-in all you're media drives (max 3-usb)

Restart the device and the Media App should now see all the usb media drives.

When you hot-plug/swap usb-drives, the Xbox One gets confused and cannot remember what drive was what or where.

It actually needs an update for this... :S

    To Microsoft:

It would be nice to see an option, just like in Windows, where you can safely remove an usb-device while running the system.

This way you the drives won't brake or bug and these swap problems on the Xbox One should be history.

ps. Where is that subtitle support on Xbox One???

    Best Regards

    :)

External harddrive for media not recognised by Xbox one

My PNY 128gb usb flash drive that was connected to my XBOX One when updated is no longer recognized by my TV's USB Media port either. It is still recognized by all my computers. This is saddening, luckily I have a 16gb Media drive that is still recognized
    by both.

I've tried all types of formatting of the 128gb drive and nothing is working, kinda frustrating really!

Watching movies on Xbox One S

That hard drive must be designated as a media drive. Not formatted as Xbox drive. Because Xbox recognizes SSD it immediately recognizes it as a media drive. Here is troubleshot for external
    hard drives.
Have you tried to start movies from USB drive? Remember, in settings on your Xbox that drive must be designated as a media drive. You can try reformated it again on your PC and then plug it in again on Xbox. One other thing. If your HDD is
recognised as media drive on your Xbox, you can format again on your Xbox and set it as media drive again. System/storage - select your media drive and pres a. Then formate it as media drive again. And finally, the question that supposed to be first. Is your
HDD recognized as a media drive? Is it recognized at all?

Have you tried to change USB ports to plug it in? And last, try a power cycle console described here on the bottom of the page and try plug
    back in your HDD.

    Usb connectivity and compatibility issues?

What exactly are you trying to do with your thumbdrive?

The mediaplayer app works with USB 2.0 thumbdrives and recognizes them, as soon as there are some media files on it.

To store gamedata on an usb drive it has to be an USB 3.0 drive and has to be formatted by the xbox to be accessible by your One.

Move or copy purchased movies saved to Xbox 360 hard drive to Xbox one hard drive

From what I've read, you should be able to use the 3.0 and the copy/move function with the 360 to get the media onto the drive, which should then work on the Xbox One.

The Xbox One won't recognize the USB 2.0 drive - it's not compatible.

2 Tb Hard Drive but cannot save games?

Is this Hard drive USB 3.0? If it isnt, then it will only be recognized for media storage, and not for game storage
