    USB Hub with memory stick

XBox One X. I have a wired controller, external HD (for game storage) , external TV tuner and a Lexar 3.0 256GB NTFS memory stick (for media storage). I obtained an Ivetto USB 3.0 hub so that I could share an Xbox port with the memory stick and wired controller. Everything works except the Xbox won't recognize the memory stick through the hub, but the stick works fine if plugged in directly. The controller works fine through the hub. It doesn't matter if the stick is plugged in to the hub at bootup, or plugged in after bootup, it's not recognized. It also doesn't matter if the stick is sharing with the controller or is the only device on the hub. Any idea why the stick will not work through the hub?

    :)

What does that have to do with this situation? It doesn't work with the one memory stick in the hub and nothing else competing for power -- in the front port only. It works fine in a rear port via hub even when it is sharing power with other devices. The stick works fine in the front port directly, but not via a hub all by itself. Something is different with the front port. It all works like it should in a rear port.

You are again describing a generality that I understand but does not explain this particular problem or answer my question. I think you are assuming what I am describing instead of comprehending what I am actually writing so I'll try again.

Please explain the following: The rear port will run the unpowered hub along with the memory stick and TV tuner, or memory stick and wired controller just fine, (It may run even more on the hub but I have not tried running three devices as I have no need to presently.) Meanwhile, the front port will recognize the memory stick by itself (without hub), or a wired controller without hub, BUT, plug in the hub with just the memory stick alone with no competing devices and the memory stick is no longer recognized. Plug in the wired controller by itself into the hub and it is recognized and works. Plug in both the memory stick and wired controller into the hub on the front port and only the wired controller works, the memory stick remains unrecognized.

Why is it everything works on the rear port (unpowered hub with multiple devices attached) but in the front port the memory stick alone via the hub is unrecognized even with no additional devices drawing power. It does not appear to be a power issue when the memory stick all by itself through the hub won't work in the front port, but works fine in every other configuration even in combination with other devices.

    Here's another data point.

The memory stick works through the hub when plugged into a rear port vs. the front. It continues to work when combined with the tuner, which draws more power than the wired controller. So the issue is that the memory stick will not work through the hub, even by itself, when plugged into the front port, but will work in the front port without the hub.

    USB Hub with memory stick

The USB stick and USB hub both work fine on the computer and Xbox by themselves. In addition, I just tried the stick connected to the USB hub connected to the computer and that works fine. The only thing that does not work is the stick connected to the hub while connected to the Xbox.

No with every attached device you draw more power.so if the draw is 15 watt but you have 5 watt devices you have to divide that by 4

That why you don't use hub for storage devices the minimum you need is 5 watts a hub doesn't have 100 watt and non powered hubs is stuck with the draw so if it's 10 watt draw you won't have much for 4 ports
