USB hub not working with the original Xbox 360

My Son has the original Xbox 360 (with 2 USB ports at the front and one at the back) and he's managed to break one of the front ports. So I purchased an Octapus USB hub with 4 ports but none of the controllers are working when connected to the USB Hub.
There is power getting to the hub as the Xbox USB memory stick lights up/flashes green when connected to the hub. However, when I go to storage it's not listed - so the Xbox is not detecting it.

I had read on other posts that USB hubs worked with the Xbox - people used them for Rock Band games, so can anyone advise what I can do to make my Son's Xbox detect the devices connected to the USB hub?

Transfer Cable Not Recognizing Old HDD

Try an older model console or the original transfer cable that only works with original HDDs if you can. The original cable appears to pull less power than the new cable.

Other than that... do you have a powered USB hub? You might be able to get it working by putting the powered hub between the 360 and the cable.

Also, make sure the drive's spinning up. You should be able to feel the vibration of the drive spinning up. That should at least rule out if the drive seized or not.

Sorry you are having this issue.

At this time i do not believe that xbox 360 consoles are compatible with a usb hub. But after some searching i did find out that there some hubs that are compatible with xbox 360 console that are after market and would work for your problem. Just google
<xbox 360 usb hubs> and you should get some results

But on the new slim xbox 360 consoles they have extra usb ports on them to prevent this from happening.
