USB Headset cannot be assigned to a profile.

    Hello,

I have an Astro USB headset that has been working perfectly for about a year on my xbox one x. Now, suddenly, my headset will not assign to any profile. When i go into the device settings it gives me the option to manually assign the headset to a profile.
I open the drop box and select my profile, but after the chime of the xbox registering the input, it closes the drop box and my headset is still not assigned. I have checked for firmware updates on the headset, deleted the "Device and Accsessories" App saved
data, and even fully reset the console but the headset still will not assign. Would love some help troubleshooting this issue.

    Thanks.

    :)

    Hi
    BridgeAdams
    ,

Thank you for keeping us updated. After doing some research on the matter I have found that the Astro A50's had an auto firmware update a few days ago about the same time the public Xbox One system update was released on 4/16/19 and then there was a preview
update for Alpha ring members on 4/19/19 where a known issue was found from the public update that headsets are not being assigned to profiles as noted on this link:

    https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2019/04/19/april-19th-new-preview-alpha-skip-ahead-1910-update-1910-190416-1920/

On the Astro subreddit, I have found a large thread where users in the preview program are having this issue after the headset downloaded it's recent firmware version. Other's are having this same issue on PC as well so I think the issue lies with the headset's
firmware not working with the current Xbox system build. Here is the thread for reference:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/AstroGaming/comments/bfcm1t/astro_a50_xbox_one_gen_3_recent_firmware_update/

I personally have Astro A50's, my Xbox is not in the Insider program, it has the recent public build, and I have not plugged my headset into my laptop to download this firmware update that seems to have started this problem from the command center software
so I have not experienced this issue personally. Seeing this going around, I'll probably wait on downloading this firmware update to my headset to avoid this issue. In the meantime, I found a thread that has the file for the previous firmware update which
you can then manually update to your headset through the command center program and then hard reset the headset and Xbox and everything should be back to normal. Here is that thread for reference:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/AstroGaming/comments/bfflx2/old_firmware_for_astro_a50_gen_3/

It appears that the new headset firmware does not want to get along with the new Xbox One system update. However, the old headset firmware does, since the workaround I posted above using the older firmware for the headset with the new Xbox One system update
seems to work for now until Astro can release an updated firmware to work with the Xbox's newest OS version.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for replying, but unfortunately that does not help. I was just on the phone with a tech for over an hour and we could not figure it out. I tried unplugging the headset, unplugging the console, switching usb cords, switching usb ports, power cycling
the console, deleting the saved data in the Xbox Accessories app, resetting the console (which deleted all my apps and games), checking the headset for firmware updates, checking when the last console update was (which was 5 days ago and it was working fine
this morning), we tested the headset on Skype to prove that the headset worked and the Xbox detected the microphone, adjusting privacy settings, and some other options. Nothing worked. It's just odd to me that the issue just occurred today and that the headset
works properly and is even detected by the console. The only issue is that it suddenly can't be assigned to a profile.

Thanks for your reply. Incredibly helpful! Just glad to at least know what is going on. I will try reverting the headset to the previous firmware update in your link. Thanks again!
