    USB freezes Xbox 360.


    I've been using a USB to save my saves for a couple of games over the past year. But yesterday when I went to plug it into my Xbox 360 it wouldn't show up. Then it would freeze my Xbox. Once I removed the USB it the Xbox would work again. Is there any way
    I can get my USB to show up so I can move my saves or for me to transfer my saves over somehow? There are hours and hours of gameplay and items I just don't want to lose on there.

    XBox 360 Console 32 GB USB Drive Console Freezes when USB Drive is inserted on any console I moved my USB Drive from one family console to another. When I moved it back to the original console, the avatars are now gone and the saved game file cannot be
    read on the USB Drive. When I insert my USB Drive before starting up the console, it freezes at the XBox logo screen. If I start up the console and then insert the USB Drive it causes the console to freeze up.

    Hey Corey,

    Sorry to hear you're having issues playing GTA V.

    1. Does this freezing happen with other games that you play or is it just GTA?
    2. Have you tried the steps in our
      Screen Freeze       Troubleshooter?
    3. Can you try Installing Disc 1 to a
      USB Drive       (Rockstar recommends a 16 GB minimum drive),
      removing your hard drive      , and then trying to play the game from the USB.

    That will help us narrow down exactly where the issue may be. Please let us know how that goes and we'll work from there.

    Sorry to hear it. Try having the usb stick in the console before you start it to see if that helps. If it doesn't then I'm afraid there is nothing that can be done to access it.

    For future reference I would recommend putting game saves on the Cloud (you have access because you have a Gold membership) to prevent loss of data in the future.

    @HV - it may be the drive failing. Try running the console without the drive and see if the issue persists.

    Sorry to hear about those freezing troubles. Let's start by going through this

    freezing guide     to stop that freeze from happening. Also make sure that the install disc is free of any scratches or damage.

    Have you tried installing the game to both your hard drive and the USB drive? Or is the USB drive the only storage device you've tried so far?
