USB flash drive won't fit through the door.

I've checked through these forums to no avail. Seems no-one else has had this problem.

All of my USB drives will not reach the port because the body of the drive will not clear the door. I would say "Who would design a piece of hardware so badly?" but then I remember -- Microsoft. *sigh*

Any ideas on how to get around this would be appreciated.

alexduskthorn, yes, the USB flash drive works via any USB port on the console. There are two under a trap door on the front of the console and three on the back. I use the front ports. Chose a thin USB drive. Fatter ones will not fit in the front and may
crowd the back.

you can have as many accounts as you can fit on the hard drive or internal memory/usb flash drive, no worries.

 

It's not the fault of the Xbox but of the drive manufacturer. I've never had an issue with my USB drives fitting through the opening. If yours don't then they've made the bodies too big.

However, there is something you can do about it. If you head to your local electronics store you can get a wire that your USB can plug into and the other end of the wire can fit into the port.

It's called a USB extension cable and looks like the picture in the link below

No doubt the extension will work. The amazing thing is I have three flash drives from 3 different manufacturers that won't go through the door but you have none. What are the odds?

 

Well, this is hilarious. I tried some other USB plugs, non-flash drive plugs, just ordinary connectors for other devices. THEY DON'T FIT EITHER!

Come on people what's really going on here. I just don't believe that everything thing I have not fitting is just a coincidence.

 

You could maybe use the USB ports on the rear of the Xbox ?

 

Eggs, I believe that will not work for a memory device, but only for things like kinect. I'll try it though.

 

They're regular USB ports so there shouldn't be any issues. I've used them for all sorts of USB devices.
