    USB Flash Drive As Storage

Putting aside that this is a bad idea because of size or price per GB, would a USB flash technically work as long it meet the 256 GB requirement? There is flash drive that runs as fast as a SSD card and its very compact, won't even see it. I'm not considering
it but this is an interesting idea. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LJWSHW6/ref=psdc_3151491_t1_B00HR7FWUC

Before you format a USB flash drive as an Xbox storage device, make sure you have the latest console software update.

You can format up to 32 GB of the storage space on the USB flash drive to use as Xbox storage.

Note If you receive the message "Can’t configure," the USB flash drive does not meet the USB minimum requirements.

  6. You need to be very careful buying usb flash drives with very large capacities off ebay and amazon, especially if they come from china.

A lot of them are actually much smaller than advertised and they are compressed in such a way to give the 128gb or 256gb size advertised.

As soon as you get a good amount of data on them the drives simply corrupt and return to their uncompressed state.

Some times they are compressed in formats that can`t be changed, so cannot be recognised by most consoles anyway.

Just google "fake usb drives", to read some of the horror stories, and to find free software to check if the drives are fake.

  7. Have had good luck with the Corsair stuff I have used. And having 256 GB in such a small size would be nice for some things. Not sure I would want one for a console really but some might. Review score is good as well.

What I linked is from Corsair. I don't think they want to suddenly ruin their company reputation.

  9. My post was about the fake drives out there, not necessarily the one you linked.

The fake items look exactly like the real ones, that is the whole point, and there are lots of them out there.

360 won't recognize USB flash drive.

Hi there, did you configure the flash drive as xbox storage.

    -

    support.xbox.com/.../usb-flash-drive

    -

    Format a USB flash drive

Plug a USB flash drive into a USB port on the front of your console.

Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings and then select System Settings.

    Select Storage or Memory.

    Select USB Storage Device.

Choose either Configure Now or Customise to format the USB flash drive for Xbox content.

Note If the USB flash drive doesn’t have at least 1 GB of space available, the options on this screen are not available. In this case, use a different USB flash drive.

Configure Now: Erases the USB memory stick and configures 32 GB for Xbox storage

Select Configure Now and confirm that you want to erase all data on the USB flash drive.

Customise: Configures a portion of the USB memory stick (up to 32 GB)

    Select Customise.

Move the Reserved Storage slider to select the amount of space you want for Xbox storage.

Note 512 MB is reserved for system use.

    Select Configure.

The console tests your USB flash drive to make sure that it works correctly with the console. If your USB flash drive passes this test, you can use it.

Note If the USB flash drive is rated below the recommended speed, you might experience reduced game performance and quality. To cancel and try another USB flash drive, select Cancel.

Your USB flash drive is ready to use and is listed as a USB Storage Device.

Now you can use your USB flash drive like any other Xbox storage device. For information on how to copy and move content between storage devices, see Copy, move or delete Xbox 360 content. You can only plug two USB flash drives into your Xbox 360 console
    at once.

Note Information stored by your Xbox 360 console on a USB flash drive can’t be viewed or accessed on a computer.

So if you have a non official 360 hard what can you do with it to play original Xbox games. do you have to get an original 360 hard drive

You need to format the storage device before you transfer games or download games. To format a USB flash drive, follow these steps:
Connect a USB flash drive to a USB port on the front of the console.
Press the Panel  button on the remote.
Select settings and then System Settings.
    Select Storage or Memory.
    Select USB Storage Device.
Select Setup Now or Customize to format the USB flash drive to receive Xbox content.
Set Up Now: Erases the USB flash drive and sets up 2TB of Xbox storage. Select Setup Now and confirm that you want to erase all data on the USB flash drive.
Custom: Configures a portion of the USB flash drive (up to 2TB).
    Select Customize.
Move the Reserved Storage slider to select the amount of storage space you want for your Xbox storage.
Note 512 MB is reserved for system use.
    Select Configure.
The console tests your USB flash drive to verify that it works correctly with the console. If the USB flash drive passes this test, you can use it.
Note If the USB flash drive speed is below the recommended speed, games may experience reduced performance and quality. To cancel and test another USB flash drive, select Cancel.
The USB flash drive is now ready to be used and will appear in the Storage Devices list as USB Storage Device.
Now you can use your USB flash drive like any other Xbox storage device. For information on copying and moving content between storage devices, see Copy, Move, or Delete Xbox Saved Games, Profiles, and Avatar Items. Only two USB flash drives can be connected to the Xbox 360 console at the same time.
Note You cannot use a computer to view or access Xbox 360 information stored on a USB flash drive. I am sending some links that will help you solve your problem.

    Hardrive Transfer

You can use a USB flash drive larger than 16GB. The 360 will only allow use of up to 16GB for storage.

My own USB stick is a 32GB flash drive. This allows for a full 16GB of storage space. Using a 16GB USB flash drive results in a maximum MU size of 14.3GB.
